I was looking at the programme guide on here and was wondering how accurate it is?
How much do the early FA cup finals go for?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

pretty accurate except 83 replay and 96 , way out now. 80s and late 70s can be picked up for a pound. |

Yes, true but one is a private seller, and one is a bonafide programme dealer, and as anyone can tell you on here, that sometimes a programme dealer's asking price, doesn't neccesarily reflect on the current market price on something like ebay. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/sharrowblade/sets

Would you like some one to agree with you that in your opinion the programme guide isn't very accurate?
Or, have you an axe to grind? |

it's a buyer's market pure and simple. I bought an excellent condition 1958 FACup Final programme the other week for £5 on ebay, just because it was so cheap, and put it in my stock. If I sell it for £10 I'll have made 100% profit, but it'll probably end up in the box I take to fairs with £15 on it, which is still a good price comparable to others, but if sold will make me 200% profit.
My strategy on ebay is pure and simple, I put in bids much lower than the normal price they sell for at the fairs I attend, and some of my postal customers, and if I get them I'm pleased because I know I'll usually make a profit on them. I bid on up to 200 items per week, and if I get 15% of those - which is a very good return - I've got another 120 items each month to put onto my e catalogue so it's not just the same items every time it goes out.
Much different strategy when buying from collectors, and exchanging as well, as that's not an open market and you have to pay much nearer the expected price. But if you know your market and understand that there will (eventually) be a profit there you can pay a much more realistic price.
Auctions....it's dog eat dog, but some genuine bargains to be had nowadays. You only need to look on ebay to see the programmes turning up the week after an auction's ended, from regular dealers and other assorted sellers.
So, there's NO realistic price guide any more, it's very much an open market. Make of it what you can by studying trends and prices over a period of time. Use auction house archives to check out prices raised at auction (don't forget to add on buying commission) You'll know soon enough when something's in the right price region or not. |

That's the second time you've called me Ian DFC! The monicker Auchinleckian depicts me as being a Talbot fan, it's not Auchinleck Ian....Real name's John. |

Sorry, I assumed you supported Auchinleck and your name was Ian.
Not such a great leap of faith considering your moniker.
I get it now, is the fact I'm dyslexic a good enough excuse?
