Hi Everyone,
Recently I have been doing a fair bit of browsing at programmes on Ebay. Is it just me or has the value and prices people are prepared to pay for programmes fallen sharply. A typical example would be the 1993 FA Cup Final Replay between Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday. Sports programmes have this priced at £90 yet I have just seen it on Ebay for £65 which also includes the first game as well. |

Spot on, prices have dropped for all programmes. Probably a sign of economical times. Hopefully it will all pick up. It's a good time to buy and add to personal collection though. |

Certainly is a buyers market at present, well it has been for the last 3-4 years to be honest
As a dealer/collector (I've not actively solf for about the same period) but I've been building up stock on quite a big way, because whilst alot of people haven't got the spare income for programmes, I see them as an investment, 200 copies of a cup final may only be worth a £1 each now, I hope and expect them to be worth alot more when the economy recovers (or at least double) |

My main concern if I ever wished to sell on a bigger scale would be that having kids aged in their teens and twenties none of them, or their friends for that matter, seem to have any interest in programmes.
This is either due to being engulfed/surrounded by them in their childhood or the fact that times have changed and any information provided by a programme is available on the net or elsewhere.
I have certainly noticed on the few I do sell via eBay that not only have prices dropped (unless you're one of the many shill bidding) but the actual viewings have dropped dramatically too. I'm often disappointed to see a listed programme finish after 10 days with just a couple of viewings, this never used to be the case.

Don't write the hobby off yet. It is a well known fact , once people ( mostly men) reach their 40s/50s , along with more disposable income, get nostalgic for their youth and start to collect/recollect items from the past. It is human nature. |

I must admit that most people my age (16) have no real interest in collecting programmes or anything for that matter. Maybe it is because of technology or being able to obtain information on the net, who knows?
I enjoy the use of technology and this sort of entertainment but collecting programmes is something different and provides a different sort of entertainment for me. It's something I am passionate about and always have been because of my dad and being surrounded by them from such a young age.
I hope that there are other people like me out there and that this hobby continues to thrive because it is a great thing and provides something different and unique in modern society _________________ www.flickr.com/photos/macclesfield/collections/ |

I think we have to concider the problem younger people now have with housing. Who amongst you were like me, I collected all sort till I discovered girls and then sold most of it to take them out. After getting a job and a home I once again turned to my collecting looking to relive those memories.
But with the state of the housing market what chance to this generation have to build a collection ? My son has a decent job but at the age of 28 he's still renting in a shared house. When is he going to afford a real home ?
Mind you most his money goes on his phone, then he computer games. I suppose that must come to a few grand a year |

Not all programmes have dropped, anything rare is still increasing especially at auction houses. I wouldn't consider the 1993 FA Cup Replay to be rare, the price has been over inflated for many years in my opinion. I would guess that at least 100 of them are sold on ebay a year. There are 10 listed at the moment. I can only see the price of that and the 1996 Final going one way and thats down for the next 10 years at least. |
