Following on from the other thread, what do other members think of team changes etc. written on a programme? There seems to be a general feeling that most people feel it is a major fault and would try to replace them with unmarked copies if they had the opportunity.

Personally, to me I quite like it - particularly on older programmes. To me, it kind of makes the programme more of a historical document - that somebody has actually held that programme at the match and personalised the programme in their own particular way.

I was also suggest that it also almost guarantees that a programme is genuine and not a reprint or fake.

Or am I just strange?

I agree with you to some extent , the programme can still be in really good condition even with team changes although a good faker may well decide to write a score or alter something to make it look more genuine ; they'll make a profit anyway (the fake item may have been worthless . )

Wheteher its football programmes, stickers, subbuteo, team sheets, hanbags, the fakers will be there .

Question is , Would you or any other purchaser of a fake programme sell it on knowingly ?

Personally, I'd like to think that I wouldn't, however, I think I may well have problems identifying a fake.

Even the various 1966 World Cup Finals I have difficulty in telling apart

I completely agree. If its a newer/common programme I will avoid team changes, but if its older and a bit rarer, it doesn't bother me so much as long as the team changes are fairly neat.

I wouldn't be so trusting. Had an example a few months back of a faked single sheet Scotland away that had a team change.

Team changes never put me up nor down in my collecting days, as long as they were written neatly then I didn't mind at all. Sometimes other stats were noted like scorers, attendance and results being added on the fixture list page. Again, quite happy with that if they were done neatly.

One programme I have, a Kilmarnock one, has the team changes done by typewriter which I thought was great! Very Happy Real labour of love.

And they do give that feeling of authenticity too. Smile Horses for courses though, one man's slight crease is another's hernia-inducing blemish...
