Has anyone else ever bid more / paid more than they've wanted to for a programme?

Only on one occasion have I put a bid in which is more than I would have wanted to, but even then it still wasn't high enough to win.

It may happen again in the next 15 minutes as someone else has bid on one that I'm after. In a way it's an annoyance, but in another way it's good to know that I'm not the only person taking an interest in the teams involved.

I will pay whatever its going to cost me if it is a programme I want, but as I am only actively buying specific pre war programmes I suppose what I spend in total isn't that much different to others who buy hundreds of programmes.

Did put in a bid of £300 once and then had to go out before the auction finished. All evening I was panicking as I had no idea how I would pay for it.
Thank god it went for £78 in the end and I was able to find the dosh to pay for it.

Not as annoying as having your bid ready at a lot more than the current bid, then just as you input your bid the pc freezes! Shocked

Happened last night Crying or Very sad

A programme I was after and would have gone to nearly double what it actually went for.

Serves me right, will have to get my bid in earlier

Jim

Far too often. Recently won a reserve programme for nearly £100 due to one other bidder also putting in high bid with third bidder way behind on £20. Was feeling smug as was a rare item but much to my bemusement/chagrin the seller had a second copy which he listed soon after and it went for less than half what i paid.

At least the seller actually listed the programme again, he could have done the second-chance offer trick to the runner-up...

Luckily I won the programme last night, and although it was only £6, it was still more than I had anticipated paying for it (seeing as I've pretty much won every other auction unchallenged).

Just means I'll have to try and sell the few programmes that I have, that are of no relation to what I'm collectiong.
