Hello!

Ive just received this information from Cameo about their upcoming auctions;

Quote:
Help Cameo Auctions celebrate its 10th Anniversary at Kennet Holme.

We are turning back the clock as on offer is the chance for collectors to receive 100% of the hammer price when we sell their material.

We would like to hear from private collectors who are considering selling all or part of their sporting memorabilia collection worth a minimum of £2500 at our next specialized sale on 6th September.

All accounts will be settled 30 days after the sale date and in some cases, advance payments are possible.

For more details please contact Tony Rampton on 07823-775900 or [email protected] or Jon King on 01189-713772 or [email protected]

WITH E-BAY CHARGES INCREASING, THIS IS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO MAXIMIZE ITS VALUE WHEN SELLING YOUR COLLECTION.

Best regards,
Tony.

Sounds good but will the buyer then have to pay a extra percentage on top, meaning they will adjust their bids. Also does this auction house achieve the same prices as Sportingold and Bonhams etc.

Do you know if the minimum limit for free commission is based on estimates or actual prices realised?
I also assume no reserves will be in place for these items?
I think we will need to read the small print

Here is a reply from Cameo covering some of your questions;

Quote:
The offer really is for 0% commission with no additional hidden costs. The bid figures cannot be adjusted as it is a live audience both in the room and on the Internet.

Providing the collection meets our value criteria of £2500, we will even collect from a mainland UK address, free of charge.

With more than five years operating in the Sporting Memorabilia auction market, we feel confident that we match Bonham's and Sportingold results. Using our database, we are able to pinpoint who buys what and we have built up an excellent record of customers' specific wants.

The fact that our sales are generally more compact than the "big boys" means we have the chance to individually target our pre-sale marketing effort in respect of contacting local area newspapers, supporters clubs and other interested parties, etc. We have the experience of handling good vintage material with a single collection of pre-war Gillingham programmes realising more than £67000.

That pre-war Gillingham collection which was sold at Cameo over a few auctions during 2006 and 2007, was a spectacular find. Gary Arkell was in charge at the time. Apparently Gary visited the vendor on another matter and it was only by luck that the Gillingham programmes were spotted. The vendor didn’t think they had any value. Gary has since moved on to Special Auction Services (New Greenham Park). Both SAS and Cameo are in an ideal location to pick up another unusual pre-war division three south collection.

A reply from Cameo;

Quote:
Craig,

I confirm that the buyer will only pay the standard 15% commission or 18%
commission if buying on the Internet, plus vat.

I hope this clarifies the matter.

Best regards,
Tony.

Folks!

Just to say that Cameo are worth dealing with. I decided to put a lot of stuff into the Cameo auction on Sept. 6th. Tony from Cameo drove up to Hull to collect my stuff having had a chat on the phone. He was very friendly and helpful, and I'm looking forward to seeing how some of my collection will do. It includes early 6o's Aberdeen stuff, loads iof Euro finals, lots of World Cup covers, some tickets and a variety of other stuff including Annuals inc. Most Rothmans and Playfair etc.
Regards,
Hulldon
