Hi
I have recently acquired an emergency single sheet issue from 8th march 1940s year not stated against cheltenham.
Can anyone confirm why it is an emergency issue and whether there are many knocking about and also the year? It is clearly a pre league issue hence pre 1950
Thanks

If it's a Saturday it's either war time league 1941, elsewise it's first full season after the war 1946-47. Does it look to have guest players in the side? If it' not a Saturday can't help with dates.
Do you have the date calculator produced by PM last year for Saturdays since turn of the century Steve? If not let me know and I'll send you a scanned copy for your info.

Just had a look and i can confirm that Gillingham did play Cheltenham on 8/mar/1947.

The emergency issue was a common thing for Gills programmes in the three years prior to re-entering the football league in 50/51 i've got over 20 programmes from those season and there are about 5 or 6 of them that are "Emergency issues" I'm guessing that due to paper rationing after teh war that the usuall programme coudl not be produced and that a smaller one page folded issue (to give four pages) was done due to not having the paper needed for a full programme
