Hi,

I'm looking for a specific programme for my dad's 60th birthday present. He is a HUGE Sheffield United fan and this is the first game they played in his lifetime, so I would love to get him a programme from the match. I *think* Sheffield United played Southampton at home on December 23rd 1950, and any help finding a programme for sale from this match would be massively appreciated!!

Hello Sally, as John (auchinleckian) suggested Dennis may be you're best bet, I have spoken to him this afternoon and he's going to let me know tonight, if he's got one knocking about.

Unfortunately It's the type of programme that only comes up occasionally, it doesn't help the fact that it was the week before christmas, I remember when I was attempting to find Sheff Utd/Stoke Valentine's Day 1948 for the old man (1st game). Took about 6 months, however, have to say look's great on his lounge wall mounted and framed.

SurfinJim- if you could keep an eye out for me at the auction I would really appreciate it!
I've been searching and searching online but as Sharrowblade points out it seems to be one of the rarer ones! Its a shame I thought about it so late on in the year - I've got my heart set on it and now no other present will be quite the same! I guess I will just keep searching and give it him for the next big occasion if I can't find one in time for his 60th.

Sally, best wishes in searching for the programme, nearest alternative currently on ebay, Utd v Gateshead in the FA Cup 6/1/51. Utd also played Hull on christmas day 2 days after losing to Southampton (1-2) and won 3-0 Ho Ho Ho. SB

Ah the first game they won in his lifetime - that is also a good idea! I will set about looking for that one too!

strange thought , but why not try the Programme shop on Leppings Lane,Sheffield.
Chances are that both the programmes that you have requested are there but surely Surfinjim and sharrowblade have explored that avenue already as thats where they get their rare programmes from.
