For years my collection was for my own enjoyment, but over the last few years I have come to realise that others may get some kind of enjoyment from seeing my collection.

I know write a monthly newsletter featuring scans of my programmes, together with match reports, old photos, players memories etc and email this to former player and supporters of my club (rugby not football and unfortuntely the club no longer exists) and to other collectors.

Additionally I have been able to help two writers by supplying information for their books from information within my collection.

Does anyone else do anything similar?

Won't let anyone near my programmes in real life. Nearly have a heart attack if anyone goes into the room! Shocked

I do share the information/scans of/in them though, like Andy and other members I have a Flickr page with a scan of every programme I have on:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/the_sfc_chris/

I have also supplied information from the programmes to www.boroguide.co.uk (which is essentially a database of Stevenage results from 1884 when the first club was formed onwards).

I felt the same way as many collectors become secretive and never want anyone else to know what they have-that is their hang up not mine.

I discoverd Flickr in 2007 but never started to upload prolifically till 2009, since then i put some stuff on every few weeks when i have some time. My column in PM also allows me to advertise my site but having worked hard to put my site about into many other countries i am approaching 600,000 views in one form or another. I have also supplied a number of people over the years and indeed very recently with images for books and for me it is all about sharing. Thumbs Up

For me Flickr is the ultimate tool to get you noticed, so versatile you can add as much comment with your images would recommend to everyone
whether your collection consists of just a few items or thousands of things, collecting is a personal thing anyone can collect anything!

If an old fool like me can use Flickr then anybody can.
I have to acknowledge a large amount of help from fellow forum members who taught me how to use it correctly.
One day i'll go back and amend the early mistakes.
At the moment, with my scanner working again,i don't have enough time to give it as i continue to load what is the largest private Manchester United collection.
I have this week loaded up some Manchester United programmes from the 1920's against the likes of Sheffield United,Port Vale,Derby and Barnsley.
I believe Flickr is a great way of helping other collectors and historians gather information and also informs fellow collectors of how many other collectors are out there should they wish to buy or sell giving them a choice of who they might want to deal with

Very easy to deal with, simplicity.
Go on andupload a few items and then sort them out and put as much info on that you need-becomes compulsive at first!, good fun and well worth the effort as you can make up any combinations or catergories you want and change them to suit. Let us all know how you get on if you end up having a go. There are plenty of forum members who have joined up with Flickr so loads of different sites to get ideas from for sure! Thumbs Up

Now back in the swing of things and the scanner is now standing up to it.

I have in the last 24 hours loaded Manchester United programmes from season 1923/24 against Bradford City,Coventry City,Wolverhampton Wanderers reserves,Barnsley,Port Vale, Bristol City and Stoke City reserves.
There is still more to come from this season as well as other programmes that are possibly the only ones in existence.
I have downloaded the full programmes so there is,hopefully, plenty to interest you in you are a supporter of any of the above clubs.
Please let me know if there is anything you like or don't like.

The 1923/24 was a second division season for Manchester United.Gates of around 20,000 at Old Trafford were the norm.
The opposition this season included Bury,South Shields,Nelson, and Clapton Orient
