Seems to be coming back in fashion.
Huddersfield did one for our game with them as they knew we were taking 3000. I just bought the standard version.
I am not chasing these at silly £££! |

Burnley did 3 of these for our one season in the Premier League (we definitely won't be going back under Brian Laws!) for the games against Man Utd, Blackburn, & Tottenham. As Wullie says, a rip off, though to be fair, the 'ordinary' programme against Tottenham was on sale for just £1.

Cheers for the imformaton Lambie. I bought number 214 for £30.
Sure it will at least hold value over the years and as i collect all programmes produced had to pick one up as may regret it later on as i have done in the past. |

Pure exploitation of programme collectors, plain and simple. How many youngsters starting out in the hobby can afford these prices? So they can't complete a "set", so they pack in. Are clubs so hard up they rip off their life blood? How much are they going to make out of this? Enough money to pay one of their overpaid failures a days wages? The sinister thing about this sort of thing, is that really, money is made on the aftersale , ie via eBay. So i wonder how many went on general sale, and how many were kept behind by staff of Burnley Football Club , too make a nice little earner for themselves. It stinks and the only good thing is , is i doubt there will be many " Special Editions" in the Championship... |

Huddersfield were selling them at normal cover price, BUT you had to buy the non-limited one to get the limited one. As someone said to me that if you had a supscription they still would not let you have a limited one unless you bought the original, therefore costing £9!
As I said previously I leave them alone, but I can understand why others are so keen. |

Burnley charged £15 for these editions. Not the 1st occasion that Burnley collectors have been faced with having to obtain multiple issues if they wish to be completists. Our European Cup away tie with Hamburg in 1960/61 had 5 different programmes, the 1946/7 FA Cup Semi Final Replay against Liverpool at Maine Road has 3 different coloured covers, and even an ordinary 2nd Division game at Charlton in 1977/78 saw 4 different covers produced! |

I don't recall a limited edition programme being produced for the Liverpool game? |

I know, I must admit that I'm disgusted by certain ebayers that have made a few quid selling these when they know full well that all money from the sales were going to the Everton Former Players Foundation.
Those sellers know who they are !!! I believe they post on this forum. |

If people are in agreement that this is a worrying trend the answer is simple - don't buy them. Limit your collecting focus to the ordinairy editions. |

That's the answer of course, but it's not that simple. I believe one game, should have one official programme. If you have two official programmes , then human nature says that collectors will want both. And by limiting the second programme to a print run of one hundred or so is exploiting fans. I peronally don't collect modern issues, thank goodness. |
