My first (and so far only) venture abroad to watch Palace play. Union Berlin are a fantastic fan-owned club, reborn earlier this century and now among the cream of the Bundesliga. There were a few of us in our small party but many Palace fans in all were there, and Union have (or maybe had, if it's still there) a wonderful bar (Tanke) converted from a disused petrol station on the way to their lovely ground. Everything there cost EU2, so we had copious volumes of lager and hot dogs & burgers to prepare us for the match, which was the usual pre-season half-paced rubbish.
