A few nostalgic publications from the halcyon days of collecting. Who can remember these?

A couple of 60 page publications from Matchday Programmes in 1986 which showed four b/w scans of programme covers on each page. Some cracking covers were featured. The second issue states "regretfully due to other pressing business commitments we are no longer able to devote sufficient time to produce Programme Parade. The first issue has been in such demand that we find it interfering with our main business which is buying and selling programmes."

Next up is a 1988 issue of Programme World, another 60 page publication this time produced by Shaun Brown. Similar in content to Programme Monthly, there's plenty of features and classifieds. Adverts included some familiar names of the era, such as Peter Holtom, A.I.S.Programmes, Portman Programmes, Football Crazy and Brentside Programmes.

More competition for Programme Monthly came from 'The Football Collector' with Peter Vale as the editor. The first issue was in the summer of 1996 and it has similar content to the aforementioned Programme World, crammed with differing collecting features and mini adverts. There were a number of issues in this guise before it reappeared again as 'The Football Collector and Historian.' in Autumn 1997. Contributors included Stuart Renshaw, John Allen and a more familiar name to some in Norman Shiel. It must have gone AWOL again at some stage as it reappeared again in May 1999 this time with a a different editor, Dave Gaertner. These publications are superb reads and full of information about all aspects of our hobby. If you get a chance to purchase one, you won't be disappointed.

and finally, whatever happened to these guys Smile

Still got my copies of Programme Parade.
I'd forgotten the reasons why it ceased production.

Football Collector and Historian was a good read, a fellow collecting friend gave me a few. Loved that it covered just about every weird thing that I was interested in
