The play offs are an awful way to end a season.

They may be exciting and bring in extra revenue but I am still of the "old school" which says that after 46 games the final League table does not lie and the top teams deserve promotion. Obviously that would not have been Pompey this season.

Brighton had a much superior record than Sheffield Wednesday over the season but look as though they may miss out in the play offs.

I know all Clubs sign up for the play offs but it does become a "one off" performance rather than consistency over the season that wins out. Is it better to lose in the semi final or at Wembley?

Back to Pompey, on the day Plymouth created the better chances and just about deserved to win. Good luck to them.

Gutted at the result and the manner/timing of the winner.....typical Pompey....summed up our season really! For me I would rather lose at this stage then Wembley......Congratulations to Plymouth.....over the two legs they edged it and got that all important break through at exactly the right time!! PS. We could still be playing now and we wouldn't have scored!! Crying or Very sad

Probably the longest 92 minutes I can recall

Lots of Plymouth fans on the forum saying haw gracious the Pompey fans were in defeat and what brilliant support they gave over the two legs .

I think we were lucky in the first leg as Matt could easily have seen red before he scored the second, better in the second but seemed to be doomed to extra time when the ball finally dribbled in off Hartleys head (Eventually). Tactically I think Adams sussed Cook and you didn't have a plan B

Hopefully we won't blow it Monday week....and maintain our 1005 Wembley record.

Our players who lost at this stage last year said it drove them on this year...hope it does the same for yours.

But Gary Roberts.....can't like him snide stamp on Jervis.....and did enjoy the fact his twitter campaign against Hartley probably smarts a bit this morning.

Chins up...next season looks less daunting without Oxford Bristol Northampton and us....or Accrington/Wimbledon.

Luton might be a bit more tasty though....

Peter
