Dummy Issue

[Five and In]

Has anybody any information about Dummy Issues please?
I was sorting into date order some magazines I have had kicking around for ages, when I noticed the same issue, one with a date and headings on the cover and another without it.
Initially I thought it was a printing error (I used to be in the print trade, so know some slip through), but when I opened the magazine, it has Dummy Issue on every page and only has repeated sections inside.
I have looked on Ebay and they seem to sell for decent money, but there are no football ones I could see.
Anybody had any similar?

I have a couple of dummy/pilot issues

The first is the dummy issue of Goal magazine from 1968. There is nothing the same about this and the first official issue which arrived in August 1968. I have seen a few of these down the years but they are quite rare. Probably £5 up to £20 depending on condition etc, perhaps a little more if someone really wanted it



The second is the pilot issue of Shoot which I'm told was given to newsagents prior to the release of the first official issue in August 1969. This is pretty much identical except for the 'Not For Resale - Pilot Issue' on the front cover. Now the depressing bit....The one I own is the only one I have ever seen and I hoped they might be very rare, I certainly paid quite a decent price for it back in my collecting days when I just had to have things whatever the cost! Gutted to find that one sold on eBay in January for £4.20
I think the seller was a little unlucky that only two bidders showed interest, and of course the fact that I had one and wasn't looking else they could've retired! Still, mine is in better condition



Not a lot of help to you Five & In but at least it shows others have been produced and do exist. Hope others surface too via the forum as long as there's no more Shoot pilot issues!

I featured these on Twitter during early February hence was able to reproduce my photo's from there, I'm sorry I can't show the official first issues at the time of posting, I don't have photo's to hand

I still can't decide if mine is a cool thing or not.
It's certainly unusual.
