Picked up this single sheet programme last week, which was advertised on another forum as being a 3rd Division game. I realised straight away that it couldn't have been as Wolves were very definitely 1st Division at the time of the game, 27/11/58. As Wolves reserves were Central League at the time might it be from some form of mid week league or the like, or possibly even a Youth match? None of the player's names stand out as being instantly recognisable to me.

Must also assume it's probably something of a rarity as it's a hand typed affair.

I have the Shrewsbury v Palace programme for the FA Cup replay on 11th December 1958 and looking at their fixture list, I can see the Shrews played Wolves on 27th December (not November) 1958 in the Birmingham League, which is a reserve league containing such sides as Brierley Hill, Banbury Spencer, Bilston and Brush Sports as well as Aston Villa, WBA, Walsall, Hereford Utd & Wolves. I'd guess it was a C team league for the likes of Villa, WBA & Wolves, given they also had reserve teams in the Central League.

5/6 of the Wolves players at first glance seem familiar and went on ,I think to play in the first team.

Like everyone else I like to pick up the odd interesting item, it's what make our wee world go round Leslie? Have never had a Town vs MUFC 47-8 programme through my hands, albeit a small number of 45-6 and 46-7 ones have done so. I'd probably knock you down to a tenner for it, but only if you accepted a recycled 1st class unfranked envelope Laughing

NO I INSIST i would pay you the £12 quid regarding the mode de employ in getting it to me, i really would not care as long as it arrived in one piece! I had one once......... and i probably didnt pay much more than that in the 1980's! ah well times move on and so do the prices. I get fed up as recently there was a Grimsby Town v Arsenal 1947-8 on ebay around 50 quid and no takers! guess it sold in the end for bobbins!.

Just doing a bit of research for fun and I reckon these are some of the players in the Wolves line up:-

1 Fred Davies - 156 apps then to Cardiff and Bournemouth
2 Gerry Harris - 235 apps with 2 goals then to Walsall
4 John Kirkham - 100 apps with 12 goals then to Peterborough and Exeter
5 Grenville Palin - 0 apps for Wolves but 130 with 10 goals for Walsall
6 Joseph Peter Clark - 0 apps for Wolves then moved to Doncaster
7 Gerry Mannion - 17 apps with 7 goals then Norwich and Chester

If the FARMER is TED FARMER I'm sure he went on to play several games for Wolves.

And the rest-

8 Barry Stobart - 49 apps with 20 goals then Man C., Villa, Shrewsbury
9 Ted Farmer - 57 apps with 40 goals - great scoring record but unfortunately injuries finished his career very early
10 Alan Jackson - 4 apps 1 goal then to Bury and Brighton
11 Dave Read - no apps for Wolves but 68 and 6 goals for Chester.

All the players bar Colin Tether went on to forge careers.

His records show just 1 appearance for Wolves.

Yes that's Ted Farmer whose career was cruelly cut short due to injury.

Cracking issue you have their Auckinleckian, very jealous of you, wish I had it in my collection.

As indicated by Bisphamseasider most of the Wolves team made a career in football. Colin Tether also made it moving on to Oxford United in the Southern League playing alongside Ron Atkinson (another ex-Wolves Junior).
