I'm not sure if this has been done before?

Do You have the programme from the first match you ever attended and what were your reactions/memories of that day?

Mine was Manchester City v Manchester United 1967/68 season.
I was taken by my Grandad an exiled Sunderland fan but with a soft spot for City. I became instantly hooked because of this match.

United won this one 1-2 but City became champions that season.

This is the original programme from that day. My Grandad bought it for his 7 year old Grandson. I kept it safe all this time and is the most important programme in my collection.

thats really awesome hydemaine.

It just goes to show that some things are really priceless and sentimental and your post reminded me of the few times that my Dad & Grandad took me to Portman Road - i loved it.

But my first match was Ipswich Town v Arsenal in 1984 or 1985 i think (I don't have the programme any longer), it stands out in my memory because Arsenal played in green away shirts.
I think Tony Woodcock scored for Arsenal and they won 1-0.

I am sure someone from the forum will clarify the year for me, but thanks for the journey back in time with my Grandad.

----------

After a little checking I found out this game was from October 1982, (not 1984 or 1985) which does makes sense as I would have been 7 years old !

I still have the programme from my first game - Easter 79 v Notts County at Roker. It's in very poor condition as I read it over and over again, but I won't part with it. I do have a better condition copy that I've acquired since

White Hart Lane November 6th 1971
Tottenham Hotspur v Everton A 3-0 victory with goals from Martin Chivers (2) and John Pratt. Attendance - 40,004 plus ME!!
My original programme, with my nine year old colouring in of the badge!
Long since replaced, but never to be parted with, nor the scarf bought that day.
My first sight of the pitch as my uncle and I entered the old West Stand will stay with me forever. I have also been told, and have a loose recollection of, that I approached Sir Alf Ramsey who was a few rows in front of us and told him to "get Chivers in the England team"

Palace v Port Vale, 21st April 1962.

This was 3 days after Palace entertained Real Madrid in a floodlit friendly (result 3-4) in pouring rain so I was barred from going by my mum.

She relented the following Saturday, when I was 6 years, 2 months and 18 days old, and the 0-0 draw was thrilling enough to hook me for life.

I have already posted mine, but thought I would share my son's first match experience. Neither of us can remember the exact match, but it was just after Christmas in the late 90's. I had taken him to spend his Christmas money in the Spurs Shop, but it was closed. He was gutted as money in the hands of a six or seven year old is red hot! To placate him, I went to the ticket office and bought tickets for the following day's match. We went, it was poor, he fell asleep and is now an Arsenal supporter!! Morale of the story? Don't let kids have money for Christmas - they become Gooners!!

My first match was Norwich v Rochdale in an FA cup replay in 75.

I went with my elder brother and his friend. I can't remember anything about the game - just my brother's sarcastic comments which, in fairness, were probably more entertaining than City's football.

I didn't even get a programme (not until quite a few years later) - couldn't afford one.

My dad took me to Norwich v Liverpool two months later. I still have the programme (my first ever) with team changes. It later received numerous annotations when it was used whilst playing Subutteo.

Oddly, I have kept my eye on Rochdale's results ever since.

Taken by my friend and his dad to the schoolboys enclosure at Hampden. 2-0 win, both goals by Derek Parlane. Went on to beat Celtic 3-2 in the final in front of 122,714.

The magic begins.........

Luton Town 1 - 2 Oldham Athletic (25/04/81)

Not my (now extremely dog-eared) copy which is currently in storage - 'borrowed' this photo off ebay - but massively happy memories just seeing the cover.

Rained all day, my folks took 8y.o. me and we stood on the open Kenilworth Rd end, in the neutral (ish) section next to the Oldham supporters (the one visible on the cover), who were on-and-off the pitch several times. Paul Price scored for Luton - I remember being spellbound by the electronic scoreboard.

For all the abuse Kenilworth Road has had over the years I always really liked it as a ground (esp. pre-redevelopment) - probably had a lot to do with my first visit there - I was utterly, utterly rapt.
