Nice addition to collection but LFC crest is too modern for fixtures it represents

There seems to be a growing number of these retrospective badges being offered for sale. Attractive as they are, they were not offered for sale at the original match so could they be construed as pirates?! Do badge collectors take them seriously?!

Strange the LFC crest has the flames on it, which represent Hillsborough 1989 then

Yep, AKP have retrospectively made FA Cup Final badges all the way back to the earliest finals and some of them are worth very decent money

Yes i believe under the Franco dictatorship ie covering he period of time when this match took place in the 1960s, Bilbao were forced to change their name away from the English to Spanish variant.

Separately, as others have pointed out the Liverpool crest illustrated here is too modern for the 1960s.

This shows that the crest is way too modern for a late 1960's badge or even one produced in the 1980's!

It's a modern badge. Worth about? £3-£5 at best!

Athletic Bilbao's history is here.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athletic_Bilbao

Of course. It dates from post 1999. Doesn't mean there won't be people who will want it for their collection, but to try and sell it via 'offers' is a bit OTT when it should just be a £3-£4BIN on ebay

It is clearly made in the modern match badge style, and to suggest it is anything older than 10 years is stretching reality somewhat

Don't want to sound too much like good old Treble though so I will leave it to others to make up their own minds

Could not agree more. One seller on Ebay recently tried to market the Chelsea badges he was selling as "old" when they were not... just modern badges made to commemorate "old" games - that was his argument when I contacted him to find out why he was marketing it in that manner.
These kind of listings do find a few new buyers who have no experience of collecting so I would be vigilant and report such sellers.
In this case, the posting on this site makes no reference to the fact that it is a modern badge made to commemorate this game. Something I do not like at all.

I have no problem whatsoever buying retrospectively issued badges, indeed some (like these issued in 2005 by Duncan Jardine to mark the 25th Anniversary of our Euro run) are among my favourites (and most sought after).

I do frown at retro-issued badges being passed off as being produced at the time though.

There's nothing wrong with retro-issued badges, most collectors appear to like them equally as much as current badges, so I don't see the need for the unnecessary subterfuge, unless it's in order to seriously inflate their value which is just fraudulent and plain wrong.

Yep - no problems either... although when I find someone has done 23 different colour variations for one match it makes me not want to buy one at all to be honest!
