This season's first round FA Cup tie between Dag & Red-Morecambe, saw a crowd of less than a 1,000 turn out at Victoria Road.

My question is, does anyone know when was the previous time a FL club had an attendance of less than four figures in said competition?

I'm going to hazard a guess and suggest not since the late 1800s...

Of course, the relevant Rothmans book is the one I can't lay my hands on right this minute - but look up Rochdale v South Shields 73/4.

Might well be an example

Isn't the record low at Old Trafford...I have a vague recollection of a Stockport FA Cup game played there where only a dozen turned up...but I might be imagining it

That was a league game between Stockport and Leicester City.

From the Talksport site

Some reports suggest that the lowest ever attendance in the Football League came when a meagre 13 people watched Stockport v Leicester City on 7 May 1921 in a Division Two game.

Indeed, only 13 people officially paid to watch the game, which was played at Old Trafford because Stockport's ground was closed.

However, the truth is that upwards of 10,000 people saw the game after the majority of the crowd from a match between Manchester United and Derby County, played earlier that day at the same ground, stayed behind.

Rothman's gives attendance of Rochdale v South Shields 73/4 as 1554. Smile
