Looking for information on players who appeared for the Combined Services XI against Wolves in Hanover in September 1945 - looking for christian names and club they played for at the time. Some I have some I don't.

Combined Services XI
Ted Sagar (Everton)
???? Challenor (???)
???? Williams (???)
Jim McCabe (Middlesbrough)
Billy Mould (Stoke City)
Jack Percival (Manchester City)
???? Gillespie (???)
Billy Ithell (Bolton Wanderers)
Dennis Westcott (Wolves)
Willie Hume (Aberdeen)
Alex Ormiston (Stoke City)

Many thanks in advance.

There was a Williams that played for Preston North End who represented a Combined Forces X1 in a match against Denmark also in 1945. Can't say for sure if it's the same one, but gives you a small lead hopefully.

A long shot, but there was a defender named Jack Challinor (rather than Challenor) who played a limited number of games for Stoke in 45/6 season. He also played pre-war for the same team.

It may or may not be one of the players you are looking for?

Jack Percival was my Mrs Uncle. He played for Man City on both sides of the war but like so many others missed the prime part of his career due to military service. He played for City for a season or 2 before moving to Bournemouth then returning to Durham City, where he eventually became manager. If you have a programme featuring him I would love a copy.
