With three visits to Eastern Europe (the fact that one tie has been played almost in China is a discussion for another day!), Dons collectors have few programmes to search for this season so far.

This leads us on to tickets and other items we can find.

I'm looking for a bit of advice about some items on ebay (link below) just now from Almaty, and more specifically items available from kazakhstancollector.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=aberdeen%20almaty&ssPageName=GSTL

I'm sure that all the items in the pictures that they have posted are genuine, but their listing for match programmes do not feature programmes. I'm wary of there being an official programme.

Does anyone have any previous dealings with this seller? If kazakhstancollector is on this forum, I'm not for one minute suggesting that you are anything other than genuine, but am seeking reassurance from other collectors who may have bought programmes from you.

Any thoughts and comments gratefully received.

Cheers
Peter

I've bought a couple of things from him, no problems and in some case receive item quicker than I do from other parts of the UK.

Thanks James, that's reassuring. Out of interest, was it programmes or tickets that you have bought?

I'm bidding on a ticket and poster, so don't have a problem with what I can see in the pictures, but need reassurance on the issue of programmes.

I can't comment on the specific Aberdeen programme.

In general they do seem to issue in Kazakhstan. I went there for the Republic of Ireland game in 2012 and while the programme was meant to be VIP only they put a limited number on sale. My understanding is that when St Patricks Athletic played in Karagandy the programme was VIP only but very few came back (3 I believe). I spoke to one person who was there "there were loads lying there but I didn't bother taking any as you couldn't read them." I did get one eventually and another collector got a bus from Astana to Karagandy (when there for the International) visited the ground and got a programme and ticket. He deserved them.

Seller may have already been able to photograph ticket and poster but may have had to wait for the game to get the programme.

In general I found the people there to be very honest. No culture of pirates either. Indeed having ordered programmes through the football federation the guy insisted on providing a receipt and moved to the transaction to an office with plenty of witnesses.

Thanks Gary. Both replies to this have reassured me about anything that is on offer by this seller. I've been in touch with a contact at AFC as well to check, but he may still be travelling home from Kazakhstan!

According to the local press, 65 Aberdeen fans made the trip - and I read it's also the longest round trip any team has made in European tournament history?

To be equalled next week when Kairat make the return trip!

I work about half a mile from Pittodrie so I might treat myself to an evening out (assuming it's not all ticket)

I went to Kazakhstan for the England game about 6 years ago, they did programmes, tickets and all sorts of collectible tat. Its not a backward country, but a very modern and fast moving place (well Almaty anyway)

Don't believe its like Borat!

Thanks for the positive responses, and sorry for not getting back sooner. Summer holidays with no wifi/3G mean a genuine switch off from the real world.

I ended up getting a used match ticket from this seller, and it came in really quick time. Going by other recent feedback, he does what he says on the tin!

Having said that, he seems to have done quite well for himself after the Dons visited, going by the prices he has shifted it all for.

Derby1884 - did you get to the game at Pittodrie? No chance of walking up to the gate that night, or any other game now, as they have done away with PATG.

PeterE!
I bought from him as well - efficient, if a little expensive. He will certainly have made a mint out of the Dons visit!!

No, didn't have a ticket.
My place of work is just a very short walk from Pittodrie so I just nipped along to pick up a couple of programmes and to see how many (if any) away supporters were there.
I'll go back to Pittodrie as and when (or if ever) Derby County or East Stirling are the opposition!

PS - got a spare copy of the Kairat programme should anyone be interested.
Cost plus postage.
Just PM me.
