Hi All,
Just a moan really!! As one of the Forums overseas(Cyprus) members
I buy programmes/tickets on a regular basis from ebay uk.It seems
to me more and more sellers are using the Global Shipping Programme.
Just be aware that sellers using this service are going to lose lots of
business from overseas buyers. For example to buy a 99p programme
or ticket, the postage quoted on the GSP is £15-£17,whilst normal
postage should not be more than a couple of Pounds! I know this is
a tracked service but would you need that for a 99p item? I certainly
will not be buying anything anymore with these postage costs. What
do forum members think

Anything I sell I list as "No International Postage", but then in the description ask for any International bidders to contact me beforehand for a postage quote (and for me to decide if its worth the risk sending what I'm selling to them!).

I would not use the GSP.

I had a recent "nightmare" with the GSP......I sold an item stating quite clearly in the description and the body of the advert that i would not sell to overseas buyers due to previous problems.....i.e they never received the item, cue seller having to repay costs!! Item was eventually sold and i then found out the buyer was in Italy......it was at this point everything went "Pete tong"...It appeared that the GSP option had been "set" on my account without my knowledge and "I" had not changed it......cue one rather irate Italian who just wouldn't listen to my explanation.....suffice to say Ebay Customer Services got involved and after an age the problem was sorted out and the "fees" incurred were reimbursed. I have now changed my GSP settings but still state "No overseas Buyers" in the listings. Have you googled the Ebay GSP.......some of the threads about the system are unbelievable......it appears even the Post Code of the GSP (Up North Somewhere!) is not even recognized by the Royal Mail!!

And that's the reason I created a 2nd eBay account with a address from a UK based friend, saves me a lot of PP costs.

Its Just another E-Bay attempt to squeeze more money out of the buyer and sellers .......all you need to do is Remove yourself from the GSP and you will then be able to send all items anywhere on the planet by ordinary post ( Air Mail ) as by default everyone who has an account on E-Bay was automatically added to the GSP, SO YOU MUST OPT OUT if you do not want to participate in the GSP simple really ........another new con trick is the Pick Up At Argos ......lol .............send it to Argos and then the buyer has to go pick it up . . . why on earth would anyone want to do this is beyond me . . . You pay Royal Mail to deliver it to the very DOOR , why pay them the same price to send it to Argos , and I assume that the cost to someone is 200% what it would be by Royal Mail . . . would anyone in their right mind send an item to a 3rd party to pass on ........???
