Just recovering from having my ebay shop hacked.

On 7th June , someone in America, hacked into my shop, and all my sales that had been listed under "variations", where relisted under the original listing.
This resulted in items being sold, that I didnt have the stock for.
With ebays help, I managed to sort out the "rogue" listings, and put the shop back to where it should be. Took 14 hours solid during past 2 days.
Not a word can I find to describe how I feel.
If you are selling on ebay-BEWARE

Sorry to hear that Bob.
Glad to hear you've got it sorted.

Why is this done apart from malice ??? unless they hacked your Paypal account as well .............As any payments for non existent items would just be refunded ???? E-Bay must have a way of tracking the address of these people surely

I had an experience a little while ago but the thieves used public places like a library and moved around so little or no trace of the IP address.

Yesterday, I received an email from British Gas with my correct account number on asking me to view my bill and then pay it and advised me how much it was, I clicked on the view bill but it was just some rubbish text and when I checked again the email address was to an individual! not from British Gas but they mimicked the whole thing with logos and everything.

Today I had a letter from my bank telling me as I used internet banking and if I have put the log in link on a favourite to stop using it asap as thieves are able to "place a screen" over the official log in page[from your favourites] and extract your password and details! Shocked

Everyday it is happening, at work I have had supppliers sending me emails advising of bank account changes-many are bogus requests-gotta be so careful and check emails from your regulars to see if there are no tiny changes like using an 0 as against an O which you may not spot till it is too late!

Alert is the word today, last month a friend had his account emptied and was told sorry by the bank we hope to put the cash back in around latest October!-but we cannot give you a loan or anything till then[Barclays], quite incredible eh and the irony is I hear that a good deal of all of this theft emanates from outside of the UK.

I daresay that most of us have Paypal accounts and I have also been bombarded by emails encouraging me to resend my log on details. On one occasion the email looked so authentic that I ALMOST fell for it. Shocked Most however are annoyingly irritating, only last week I was informed "you do not log in, you banned" !! No

If nothing else, it has kept me on my toes and the funds I have in Paypal are kept to an absolute minimum just in case! Neutral

I learnt a long time ago to regularly change my password. Religiously I change it every 4-6 weeks, and still the ba****ds get through.

I can understand it they are after money, but just to screw something up for the sheer hell of it, is beyond me.

It may be that the hackers hope you use the same password for E Bay and Pay Pal.

It is always best to use a completely different password for each site you use. Annoying but good practice.
