Normal for Man Utd; one of the least welcoming places for away fans.

Terrible over priced seats with absolutely no leg room and heavy handed stewarding. Dreadful place and I'm glad they are finally being held to account for the disdainful way they treat fans.

What is the game coming to, although this has a lot to do with the madness of Health & Safety and the American claims culture which has sadly now reached the UK where you are encouraged to claim/sue for anything and everything. This probably influences clubs to protect themselves regardless of how OTT it is.

Well United fans do treat the away fans in a very poor way
They charge far too much.Oh wait. It's a lot less than London clubs especially Arsenal
They put them in good viewing seats in the corner.Newcastle put the away fans at the top of the top tier
United treat the away fans in as human beings.Liverpool lock you in for half an hour an allow the home fans to grotch on you from the top tier as they file out.
QPR put you in seats that often have the word "diabolical view" stamped on them.

there are of course a few who look after you like Chelsea and Manchester City do but United are no better or no worse than many others
Indeed the security company is Liverpool based and fill the ranks up with scousers who enjoy giving the United fans a good kicking

True story this...

When I was an Assessor for the Stewards at Anfield I was interviewing a candidate in the Centenary Stand when we were interrupted by a hell of a commotion. It turned out that a wheelchair bound supporter with no legs had somehow blagged his way into the wrong stand. Anyone who knows the ground will realise that all the disabled areas are in the Main Stand. He was politely informed that he would need to go back to his allotted position in this Stand.

At this point he blew his top complaining that the view in that stand was S**t and that he wanted another seat in a better position. He refused to listen to the fact that this was not possible as all the seats were taken plus access was severely restricted for wheelchairs anyway. This only seemed to enflame the situation as he started to get more hostile with a tirade of expletives. His main complaint was that he was being discriminated against because of his disability. Again it was pointed out to him that he was in the wrong stand and therefore trying to gain access to somebody else's seat.

After another mouthful of abuse to the members of staff he was advised that he was to be ejected from the stadium with no right of re-entry. At this point, and I kid you not, he then manoeuvred himself out of his wheelchair and scuttled across the concourse as far as the entrance to the stand. He then proceeded to climb the stairs to the ground itself.

At first there was a stunned silence as this surreal moment unfolded until eventually he was apprehended, placed back in his chair and escorted off the premises.

The members of staff in the ground concerned all acted in a safe and correct manner in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the stadium and no complaint was received by the person concerned or any members of the public who witnessed the incident.

I feel certain that any other club would have dealt with the situation also in a suitable manner........wouldn't they?!! Wink

As a Man City fan who has visited Old Trafford many times over the years ( the last 6 times being in the disabled section as my sister is in a wheel chair ) I have to say the stewards have been first class & facilities fantastic & all for FREE. The user & carer go for nothing. This season apart, more recent visits have been very enjoyable too.

Going back to the original story it is ridiculous that it happened. There is absolutely no justification for that kind of over zealous attitude.

On the more general parts of this thread, going to man utd is indeed no better or worse than a lot of grounds and the stewards are helpful and friendly although it is one of the most expensive trips re tickets but view is decent. Going to chelsea and spurs are generally unpleasant experiences but then probably due to being london rivals. But the worst ground is Palace. You are put into an antiquated stand with appalling view and medieval facilities.
