With the Yorkshire Fair on the horizon, I found this line up for the 1999 event, a bit like looking back at the line-ups for the old music festivals.

John Wilson was the headliner and his son is now a member of this forum. I remember him at knee height! The support came from Mick Hewitt who now organises the fair assisted by his son Alex. There’s also the late David Howgate who helped me along with my collection as well as dear old Basil Godley. Basil was a true gent. There was a youthful grumpy sod named Bazza, as well as Kick Off programmes amongst others.

Collecting in those days was great, a bit different from what we see nowadays.

There was also a tight Middlesbrough fan who wanted a discount on a £3 sale and

I remember answering some stupid questions for a 10 year old Dangerman. Very Happy

I don't think the quality of items on sale at Fairs has gone down over the years, its just the quality of items on sale elsewhere has gone up and therefore Fairs aren't the first place people will head for when looking for items for their collection.

It will be my first Pudsey Fair after selling at Preston, Leeds, Altrincham and Haydock over the past year with varying degree's of success so looking forward to it. I'll be the relative young person with my enthusiastic little helper falling for Tom Roe's rubbish jokes (no offence intended if you read this Tom Thumbs Up )
