This ticket was brought into the shop today - am I right in thinking the combined attendances for the 'live' game at Goodison and the 'telly' audience at Anfield meant that this FA Cup fifth round replay was watched by the biggest audience for any match in the history of the competition outside of the final? PM if interested in the ticket by the way.

My uncle lived in Winslow Street then - off Goodison Road - and I was up there at the time.
Was the game not delayed or in danger of being called off because of high winds as a few bits fell off the scaffolding that protected the new stand being erected?

Of course I may be talking cojones - it's nearly 50 years ago FFS!

I was at the game at Goodison Park 1-0 to Everton Alan Ball scoring
the winning goal.
Was a dreadfull evening part of the screan blowing down at Anfieald.
Real Football ..... dont think it was a replay though ?

Two really amasing strong teams this era pity thay never met in the final that season ....now that would have been a game to saver.
Think Everton lost in another titanic game at Forest in t next round ...although i may be wrong has you say it was over 50 years ago.

Question often turns up in a sports quiz re attendance wright in a way though i guess.

I find this really odd but i went to the Everton v burnley game yester day and i can remember more from the Liverpool game than that dreadfull "game" yesterday.

Lost at Forest in the quarter-final 3-2 on the banks of the Trent.
Leading 2-1 but Ian Storey-Moore scored a hat-trick methinks.

Can recall standing outside the players' entrance back in the early 60s and getting autographs from Roy Vernon, Alec Young, Albert Dunlop et al, most of whom had arrived by bus!

Was lucky enough to arrive at said Uncle's house two hours before the North Korea v Portugal game in '66 - paid 17/6 in old money to get in - there was a pay gate at all World Cup matches, despite being told that the games were all-ticket.

Think I got all the Portugal autos but the Korean's were whisked away and not allowed any contact with the locals.

The Mersey derby game definitely wasn't a replay although it did kick-off early Saturday evening I think.
