Hi, does anyone have the book The Definitive Aldershot AFC. I am looking for a copy of this book if anyone has one available or can point me in the right direction.

I am especially after the stats for their war years 1939 to 1945.

Thanks for looking and even more thanks if you can find me the book.

Smile

I have a copy of this book. I managed to find one last year after a long time trying to get hold of one. It does have to Wartime results, lines up etc and also the pre League Southern league stats from 1927 until they joined the League and the post League stats 1992 onward too.

I can do some scans for you if you send me your email address but it may take a few days if you are interested.

Tony

Just to add Shots at War by Jack Rollins is possibly better for wartime as it includes all friendlys, Hampshire cup and other games. It also has all attendances.

The definitive Aldershot is very good but does not include such matches as the pre-war and pre - league friendlies against clubs such as Barnsley, West Brom and Sunderland.

Are you looking for detailed stats, as the AFS War Reports have all the matches, scorers, and attendances for Shots' games.

Hi Roland and John,

Thank you for your replies.

John, yes I am looking for detailed stats for 39/40 through to 45/6. Are the AFS war reports available for sale?

Roland, thanks I will look for that book.

Clive

They're not for sale Clive but I can probably write the details down for you and send them on if you want?

Another excellent source of reference is Jack Rollins' Soccer at War.

This book includes a lot of detail on Aldershot including lists of League Appearances and Goalscorers 1939 to 1946 (including the London Cup in 40/41).

If you want copies of the pages let me know and I will try and send.

There is a fairly new book on Amazon called 'A record of British war time football' by Brian McColl which has even more stats than both Soccer at war and the AFS reports.
