Hi! Wave First post...

I recently acquired this programme for under £10 and see it listed on footballprogrammes.com for £75, and other websites at considerably more than other FAC semi-finals from the same era. Interested in any information about the programme and its scarcity.

One listed for £50 on BIN ebay. That’s probably too much TBH. Under a tenner though if in decent condition sounds a reasonable deal

Very true. BIN and dealers prices are usually aspirational and so they ask over what is probably the true current value. They give sellers false expectations.

Dealers are happy to carry stock and play the waiting game.

That's very interesting. By 'play the waiting game', do you mean that eventually someone will come along and pay more than the true value?

Maybe yes, maybe no. That is all part of being in business.

In my opinion stock is dead money if it is not turning over but most dealers do not see it that way.

Why would a dealer have a programme, that probably cost very little, sitting around at £50 when he could get £10/20 for it now?

Someone may come along someday and pay £50 for it but that may be next week, next month, next year, next ...................

I suppose the overheads are quite low for holding onto a small, light collection of papers, so as long as dealers monitor the market and respond to downward fluctuation, there is little risk in holding onto stock - particularly if you have a large amount of stock so a regular (if proportionately small) income. Very Happy #economics

This is a subject that has been aired on the forum a few times.

Except for the quality end of the market, prices have been declining for a few years; ageing collectors, fewer new collectors etc. but some dealers still live in the past.

John Litster's "Quick Guide to Football Programmes" (January 2013) shows your programme selling at auction for £30. Deduct selling fees of around 20% and the seller nets around £24. The value of a programme is what is sells for on any given day.

Anything between £10 and £20 is faier reflewction i would suggest and as others say it all depends on its condition .......Here are some on E-Bay recently sold . Must admit some of the descriptions on E-Bay leave a lot to be desired when you consider that people are after making a bob or two out of it . . .

The one in best condition went for £18.00 ( just a old fold )

The not so good one went for £10
add £1.30 for post and there you have it
