According to the ebay ad they did but this would need confirmng by a Sunderland 'expert'.

I wasn't aware of these inserts as the Sunderalnd v Blackpool programme I have in my collection doesn't contain one nor does the programme mention them anywhere.

However, the programme does mention that there is a 'Spot the error' somewhere in the programme and you should mark your programme and tear out the page to have a chance of winning one of two cash prizes.

The programme is dated 11th feb 1956.
I cant identify the player, hopefully an sunderland expert can.

The player is Jack Hedley.

I was told a long time ago there were only 12 photos issued - he's on my list. I just presumed that the photos started at the beginning of the season, but that now seems unlikely.

Strange that I'd never come across the insert in the 55/6 Sunderland v Blackpool programme but soon after this thread started the programme plus insert appears on Ebay.

I have now added this to my collection.

The signature is not obvious (to me anyway) but would appear to be Billy Elliot which ties in with your site Alan.

The programme is dated Saturday 31st December 1955.

I have seen these photos for years and like others I believed they were given away with the Sunderland Echo . I was surprised as anyone when I found out they were programme supplements . As serious collectors have to have programmes and any inserts these photos will become quite collectable.

I think there may possibly be a team photo amongst the set , as I have seen this photo before. Similar size , courtesy of Sunderland Echo
