ebay obviously got wise to those smartarses who sold items for low prices and thus low fees but then compensated by high p&p. Sadly doesn't stop those arses who charge ridiculous p&p regardless. The other change is a good one as listing fees for items above £1 now at flat rate of 15p regardless of price. Hopefully will see a more regular flow of decent items instead of everybody waiting for free listing weekends.

Final value fees change for all private sellers
Final value fees will be charged based on the combined value of the item listed plus postage. For example, if an item sells for £20 with postage cost of £4, the final value fee will be charged based on the combined value of £24. This will not apply if the listing offers collection only.

Insertion fees changes for private sellers with a Basic Shop

Private sellers with a Basic Shop subscription will not pay insertion fees on their first 200 listings per month. This is an increase from the previous 20 listings. Insertion fees for subsequent listings will be £0.20 for all categories - media items will no longer be priced differently.

Additionally, insertion fees for auction-style listings will be reduced and the number of bands will go down to two.

Auction-style listings with a starting price between £0.01 and £0.99 will still receive the monthly 100 free insertion fee allowance. From the 101 st listing, the insertion fee will be £0.05 for all categories including media (a change from £0.05 for media and £0.10 for all other categories).

For listings with a starting price above £1.00, the number of starting price bands will reduce from five to one. These items will be charged an insertion fee of £0.15 for all categories.

These changes will simplify the fees for sellers, allowing you to list more fixed price items at no additional cost and experiment with selling higher value items in auction format.

A guy sold me 6 x 60's programmes for average price, he charged me £4.95 postage. I posted 7 of same type at cost of £1.20. Added to my twat list on ebay. Name and shame? sure I will. The Goalie.the only other on my list is smithy's programmes. This twat sent me two in shocking condition, they went into the bin. I often used this seller and I looked back on previous transactions and he hadn't left feedback for last 12 sales, also ignored my complaint.

Used 'smithysprogrammes' twice and never again. Programmes took an eternity to arrive and when they did come they arrived in the flimsiest of envelopes and were damaged because of it. Did the same to me, leaves no feedback or replies to messages. Pity cos his P&P is quite reasonable but then a flimsy envelope and an eternity for delivery may reflect that!

You must be annoyed gonnerboy Laughing

You go to the trouble of posting information which will no doubt be of use to a lot of people on here, and hopefully stimluate discussion, but straighaway the thread gets highjacked with a specific moan about an e-bay experience. No

I like Smithys programmes because he quite often has a cheap buy it now item (as illustrated above).

I don't like Smithys programmes because the condition of some of the programmes isn't always as described and once I had the experience of a programme being posted in an envelope without board backing and it got folded by the postman. Messaged 'smithy' and he said sorry, but it smacked of a 'don't care' attitude. Left him suitable detailed seller rating on the packing!

But back to the original subject...I thought eBay had clamped down on high P&P prices previously and for some items (CDs I think) you couldn't charge more than a certain price for P&P? For non-shop sellers I don't think this works out that well.

GONNERBOY?

My post is valid,it backs up the need for these changes,in fact yours is the only one that has a moan but no real relevance.

Sorry eck but your post even if remotely connected (which I admit it may have been due to the common theme of e-bay) still went off at a tangent and may have prevented others later on from realising what the o/p was all about.

Could this not back fire in buyers? Seller doesn't want to be charged on the £6 for special delivery and item gets sent first class with no insurance? Just a thought as it may penalise sellers of quality items.

As for the thread what was the programme Cossie?

There is also not enough detail at the moment as to how this will work for multiple items with combined postage.

When I was an apprentice down the docks in Grimsby in the early 1970's, I used to work with a couple of guys whose surname was Rea (pronounced as in rear) There brother was in the Royal Artillery - I kid you not - and so he was always known as Gunner Rea!

Getting back to Goonerboy's original post re E Bays fees.

Why do E Bay not change their policy so that P&P cannot be charged in certain categories i.e. the ending price or BIN price reflects the total amount you would pay? Everything in those categories would be listed "post free".

This would stop the profiteering and E Bay would still get their whack from the total value of the deal.

Unless I am missing something this would work for the majority of sales including programmes. If a buyer wanted something sent Special Delivery or overseas E Bay could lay down an acceptable "fixed" price structure dependant on weight which would be binding on the seller and buyer.

Another way of ebay generating even more money from sellers. FFS, don't they make enough on final valuation fees already?
