If you get any emails from [email protected] do not open them as he is a hacker, and will access your ebay account.

Can't he only access your personal details if you click on a link in one of the emails?

I wasn't trying to disagree with what you were saying mate.

Just wondering if he can get your details without you clicking on any links in the email?

Don't know as I've not received any, the info came for a dealer who asked me to alert anyone who may have ebay accounts.

Hadn't wanted to appear brusque with my first reply, but it looks like I was. Apologies! However, I have no concept of what goes on in the lap top, apart from the fact I email on it, access certain websites (nothing untoward) book my holidays, and the rest...forget it! Am sure the likes of the Barra Ld, redken, Molineux Phil etc will know what I mean, it's a generational thing. Asking me to understand computer trickery is liking asking King Herod if he fancies a shift or two at Mothercare.

99% sure that as long as you don't click on any links you will be ok. Even then you would have to fill in your username and password on the site you get taken to. This will look like ebay but it WILL NOT be a true ebay site. IF you fill in your details and send them back that's when you will be hacked.

Must admit I have fun with these scum and send them back details but they are wrong so they cant use them. They are very abusive as well.

I am NOT advising anyone else to do this but it does make me feel a bit happier thinking about them trying over and over again to access my account without success.

I'm with you John, I don't think I'm quite from your generation, but seem to have adopted that mentality!!
Pastpirate, that is so funny, I never thought to do that, I must try it the next time some d*ck sends a phishing email from Nigeria, or wherever they come from!!

If this clown has a genuine hotmail account why not do what I do - forward all your spam to him.. Gmail arranges it all for you!

My son also used to like to open up spam mail (through the door stuff) - take out the contents - stuff it in the (wrong) envelope with the other spammers rubbish inside..using prepaid envelopes of course!!!!!!!!

www.419eater.co.uk -- me and some mates from another forum used to do it all the time.

Regarding the emails, if you do open a link to a website that's asking for your details/password, make sure that the address in the address bar is the correct one for the site you want. It may look like ebay, but the URL is probably different.

419eater is where I got the idea from.

I keep the Nigerian scammers going for weeks sometimes.

Funny how even though I give them a different name and address each time (Fred West, Adolf Hitler I live in a bunker in Berlin) each time I reply the stupid idiots still don't suss that I am winding them up.

Can be great fun and while they are writing to me they are leaving others alone.

I got an email from a friend recently warning me about this. It suggested that all you had to do was open the email to be affected ie. you didn't need to click on any links. I didn't forward the email to my contacts as I don't think it's possible for someone to hack your account just by opening an email. Obviously some sort of junk and nothing to worry about. DON'T click on any links though.
