I'm afraid Chelsea tickets from the 60's sell quite high, just the way it is, same with Spurs
I've seen these FA Booklets above often and they go for penny's. Seems the Chelsea photo guys spotted it. |

usually the tickets from postponed games are valid and used for the new date so I would be surprised if it is scarce. But good luck with auction as there is clearly money still out there. |

Well I for one am a ticket person, i find they compliment the programme perfectly.
I have little or no interest in looking to buy individually any United regular league tickets from the 1970's up to the present day, i already have bundles of them that i have not even sorted out for years.
My particuar interest is any tickets for United in the FA Cup/European Cup/Tournaments home or abroad.
There is something speecial about programmes and tickets from the early days iof the European Cup from the mid 1950's onwards, when the Champions League started i have everyone United have played home or away but after a year or so just like the programmes the tickets all became computerised trash!.
One mans meat and all of that-if you want to see some of my tickets that i have uploaded onto flickr from some obscure matches abroad to hard to find FA Cup ties then go to www.flickr.com/photos/manchesterunitedman1/sets and scroll around until you find the ticket section-i have uploaded a few hundred so far with just a few more to go!.
Tickets for matches that never got played is another interest, or from clubs that once were in the top flight butnow have disappeared to the bottom of the ladder or even out of the league itself.
For Manchester United there are very few hardened ticket collectors you can count on one hand and some prices have been quite high for run of the mill 1960's but not in the near 3 figure league.
I do not subscribe to the fact that as some other member has said "If so and so has not got it in his collection he will pay over the odds to get it" well i have paid a few bob in my time for stuff for sure and will keep doing so if
feel it justifies it but i will not join in the madness over run of the mill dross that will never give you back what you have wasted on it.
A year or two ago two or three nutters were bidding on ebay for United home reserve programmes from the 1970's-yes these can be tough to obtain but paying over a hundred and up to two hundred a piece was lunacy-the items were at best £20-30 for their scarcity.
Manchester United items pre-War are more expensive than any other club programme wise all the United haters love to find something as they can earn well out of it whilst in the same breath spitting venom-listen if the devil himself want to let me have a genuine copy of the 1909 Cup Final for a couple of thousand as against the £20 odd thousand it went forrecently then look no further than me! ha.
Take a look at tmy ticket section-worth the visit here are a couple of favourites to wet yer whistle.
The 1969 Ticket iwas produced in case there was a draw in the 1969 European Cup Semi-Final second leg and a game was arranged at Heysel the other one is a duplicate ticket for the 1948 Cup Final complete with row and seat number! Tickets-I love them!!. |

""i will not join in the madness over run of the mill dross that will never give you back what you have wasted on it.""
I wish i followed this line of thought years ago, and had better self- discipline , no doubt my collection would be far more interesting than what it is now. |

To be honest tickets have never tweaked my knackers.
I do have a large selection over a wide time period but they are mostly in several large boxes that i have been meaning to sort to about 20 years.
I personally like to collect something that i can complete some sort of set of.
The value is sometimes unimportant.
For instance it is difficult to work out how far to go back with tickets.
If you want to collect,as an example,Manchester United tickets over the last 20 years or so then that is not a difficult task as almost every game is all ticket.
There were therefore plenty of tickets and will cost you pennies.
As you start going backwards through the 70's,60's the tickets become harder to get as it was pay on the gate.
By the time you reach the 1950's it becomes very hit or miss.
Most in the main stand were on season tickets and on the other 3 sides it was pay on the gate.
So can you complete a set of say 1950's or even back to the war.
Almost certainly no is the answer and as such it doesn't turn my collecting habits on.
Now can you find a season ticket for every season back to the war?
Answer is yes and that's what i collect.
There are scans of these on www.flickr.com/photos/63580000@N04/sets
Another set i find desirable is a ticket from every Alex Ferguson managed Manchester United game.
All are on the market and none will cost you much.
Tickets were like reserve programmes a few years ago.
You used to get a box load for a quid then a few started collecting and the prices went crazy.
Then a lot dropped away as did mostly the prices.
The quality oddball ticket is still crazy but as a collecting habit i am not prepared to fight for them.
I do like home reserve programmes as again they are all available but i don't collect Manchester United away reserve programmes as it is difficult to know who produced and who didn't.
I have a few but these were acquired rather than collected if you know what i mean.
For information i have been steadily adding to my flickr page which is the largest private Manchester United collection in existence.
Please follow the above link to see the largest collection of Manchester United pre war programmes around(Both home and away)
See your clubs pre war programmes. You won't be disappointed |

I started adding Man Utd tickets to my progamme collection last year, I sold quite a few over the years that I had included in collections that I bought. Wish I hadnt now as there were some good away friendlies etc there!
As Ray mentioned, its almost ipossible to complete a collection, but personally that isnt my aim. I dont ever want to be complete, just keep adding when and where I can.
With regards your box of tickets that have needed sorting for 20 years Ray, I'll take that job off your hands gladly! |
