There has been a Fans Boycott of matches in the Premiership League proposed by Tim Farron . . . . would you join ???
I personally belive that ALL the Premier League Players are WAY over paid . You might say well the Premirership has to compete with all the other European Leagues ....... Like Spain Laughing .... Spain is on the brink of going BUST itself .......... So why are TOP Flight Players immune from the current " We are all in this together "

So what to do? Go back to the "retain and transfer" days that the likes of George Eastham fought so vehemently back in '62?

That's what I'd like in an ideal world - but it ain't going to happen!

It's not the players' fault - if a club is going to offer them £100k a week to kick a ball then they'd be bloody stupid to say no.

As Deep Throat said in that car park during the Watergate thing - follow the money.

If fans - committed or fairweather - would cease to subscribe to Sky, then that's what would cut the funding that clubs pass directly on to players.
But - as it stands - the combination of the money coming into the game (at the top level), basic supply & demand economic theory and the rewards available will continue to have an inflationary effect upon the limited resources (ie, the players).

Unless supply (of quality players) suddenly increases (unlikely), then demand will have to reduce in order to effect a reduction in income and, de facto, wages.....and the quickest way for that to happen is for the level of Sky subscritions to decrease.
Gate revenue is probably less relevant now than it's ever been.

My thoughts exactly Derby.

We at Norwich have an interesting one coming up in the league cup as NCFC are charging £30 for what will be a reserves game vs Spurs. A lot of NCFC are refusing to pay that, so it will be interesting to see what sort of gate we get. I suspect local Spurs fans will push it up, but I would be amazed if the ground is half full, whereas if they had charged £20 they would have sold it out. Greed gets even clubs like ours that have always been family freindly once you get into the Premeir league.
