saw a doncaster v derby 1945 league programme in very poor condition yet reached over £22. Is this that rare that even such a poor copy costs this much ?

Just looked at the link posted by holtie96. Liverpool had 76 players sign up for national service and Wolves had 91!!!!

I know we ran about 6 teams in that era but how did we have 91 players on our books at that time. And that is saying that every player signed up for the war effort.

A number I know will have been amateurs but how many players did we have on the books at that time. Tight arse Jez Moxey would of had a cardiac arrest at the wage bill!

£22 is probably a fair price for this Cup game. One of the less rare Derby aways from this season. There were 23,699 at this game - much rarer is the league game at Belle Vue back in Sept 44 when the crowd was only 8,029.

The Game was 2nd Round 1st Leg 1944-45 League War Cup.
Derby winning this game 1-2 but the 2nd leg Derby lost 1-4, so going out on aggregate.
Doncaster fell in the next round to eventual finalists Manchester United, who lost the the 2 legged Final to Bolton Wanderers.
