One for the United lads,

Do you think the 1908 Charity shield programme which sold at Football sports auctions on Monday for £4800+commission represented a good investment?

I do not think the buyer (phone bidder) will be very pleased when he receives it. It was quite frankly in awful condition. If Programme Preservation are able to help they will have done a hell of a job to restore it to something half way reasonable.

I would be surprised if the buyer hadn't seen/viewed the programme prior to the day of the auction. Internet pictures can often be misleading. I would never spend that amount of money on anything without viewing it first.

Over 25 years ago I went to Brighton to watch West Brom I adverised in the local area and picked up 6 Chelsea bound volumes from 1907 to 1912.
I paid well for them and in them were 5 or 6 Charity Shield matches and several semi finals.. I split them all up and made a good profit, I wish i had them all now.
