A special attraction and presumably a first for a major event, is Federico’s Situationist Stall, where the Italian collector is making a stand against boredom and the crisis of modern, bourgeois culture by giving away his programmes in an artistic statement.

It is a one time only cultural shift for Federico however who is bringing most of his spare collection from Italy so it is hoped that he and his bag make it intact. Although the logistics are still to be finalised, it is probable that everyone who asks will get a handful of free programmes while stocks last.

Any follower of Ayn Rand’s culture of Individualism i.e. “Hello. I am first in the queue and would like to have them all”, is likely to be disappointed.

The Giant New Year Fair is on Sunday 5 January at The Royal National Hotel, by Russell Square, London WC1H 0DG. 10.30am to 4.00pm.

Note: On May 30 1957 Real Madrid beat Fiorentina 2-0 in the European Cup Final held at the Bernabeu. In Italy, on July 27-28, the Situationist Movement was established by a group of experimental artists and intellectuals. They rejected hierarchy and work and aimed to dissolve the boundaries between every-day life and art. Initally leaning more towards the artistic element, the movement became more politically focused. It was formally dissolved in 1972.

As a staunch follower of Ayn Rand I got to work out a strategy to get my hands on as many free 1970 Italian football programmes before Dangerman gets his hands on them and spends the next 6 months asking us how much 1973 Ascoli v Empoli is worth, etc.
I will spend the next few days obtaining as many free coca cola drinks as I can from the pretty girl outside the coca cola Christmas lorry without getting caught as a way of practise.
