I received an offer from E Bay today for 200 free listings. It is an offer only to "selected sellers". Problem is when you list something it charges you a listing fee.
Looking at the E Bay forum many other have the same problem. E Bay say there is a "technical issue". They also say all listing fees charged in error will be refunded in due course. I am not listing anything under this offer until it is fixed as getting fees back from E Bay probably will be difficult.
If only E Bay tested these offers to make sure they worked!!! |

I've had the same special offer martino.
I wouldn't worry about getting the fees back.
Despite all of Ebays faults I have never had an issue when there has been a technical problem and they have promised to do something such as make a refund.
Wouldn't do any harm though to wait until later tonight or perhaps tomorrow if you are concerned. |

I am out this PM at the Rugby but I thought I would try and list a few this AM. I will wait till tonight and review the position. Hopefully it will be sorted by then.
Thinking about it now the scary thing was that it could have been a scam as you had to respond to the E Mail offer to accept it. I am usually very careful but this shows that you should always be watchful. |

Pretty much compulsory, you can still list them without a photo but they don't seem to get nearly as many views without one... |

Although it is not absolutely clear it would appear that all listings must have a photo from 30th October. |

It seems I can't automatically re-list for free now, every re-list has a charge and even 99p items have a fee so it's not worthwhile for me as most of my Rangers doubles are run of the mill items. |

You add to accept the offer via the email first or you will have been charged.
I listed a couple of items in the wrong section and my listings taking down. Fair enough, but the tone of the email was like I had commited a massive crime!
Eck I just relist my 99p items once a month. You cant have 1000's stored up but I chip away at them that way and swap them when the free listing weekends come up.
Ebay really does not know what it wants to be any more. I think it would like to be Amazon, but I would never use ebay for large new items. |

If you re-list and it does sell I thought E Bay refunded the listing fee? |

....and if it doesn't sell? As you know it depends if the right people are browsing. I had one that never sold after being relisted, third time 6 bids. |

E Bay is hit and miss. It depends who is browsing when. I am sure others have had the same but some items I expect to sell have not had any interest and then on re-list the buyers are crawling all over it!
For all E Bays faults where else can you offer an item to a worldwide market of potential buyers? |

I keep thinking of stopping selling on ebay mainly because of the fees but at the moment there is no real alternative to reaching such a huge market. |

I know it's against ebay policy, but not against the law as far as i'm aware but I sell to,and buy from people i've had dealings with on ebay,i'm currently negotiating a deal with a collector in my area to shift a good number of my Rangers doubles.Of course i''ll give him a better deal than he can get anywhere else and he's no postage to pay. I am getting rid of some of my bulk and a few shillings to expand my collection.

Yes Eck, I have built up a good many contacts through selling on Ebay and I always try and help out other collectors directly if I can.
What I may lose on bidding between 2 buyers, I am likely to gain from not paying any Ebay or Paypal fees. I will also offer post and packaging at cost.
What Ebay don't like is when you've listed something and then withdrawn it to conduct a private sale. However if you have the potential buyers private email or other contact details then it's nothing to do with Ebay and they can go and **** themselves. |

Is that because WBA programmes are ugly?

Once you've dealt with somebody and paypal payments are made email addresses are exchanged so direct contact can be made. Ebay made it harder to send your email address in ebay messages to cut out the direct contact to make out of ebay deals, this equated to more money for them, as usual.
I don't see how it can be ''against the law'' to do an out of ebay deal once email addresses are exchanged. I get items offered days, months or even years after i have dealt with somebody on ebay via email and payment is made through the paypal ''i am paying for goods and services'' tab, the fees are taken and i as a buyer am covered under the paypal buyer protection policy. What's illegal about that?
If you send a gift payment you are leaving yourself open for misuse. If the seller insists then pay the fees yourself, just add 3% to the total. |

I see you have been drawn into replying to one of the many spam emails that are now appearing regularly cossie.
Original was from eck a few weeks ago.
There have been a few today picking up on old threads and repeating what someone has previously posted.
Is there still no one in charge of this site who is prepared to monitor new members? |
