A trip to the heart of Dartmoor for the Gulls this day 22 years ago.

8 page unpriced programme includes pen-pictures on the Chagford team.

In the best non-league tradition, it includes a milkman, a baker, a lumberjack, a chef and no fewer than 3 farmers.

Chagford were, apparently, in the South Devon League. Quite possibly still are for all I know.

Only one advert in it - for double glazing. I guess you need that with the wind blowing off the moor as it does.

Something a little bit different.

Here is the autograph book of Francisco Matteucci, a Uruguyan referee/linesman who officiated at the 1930 World Cup finals. He was linesman in 3 games and referee for the Yugoslavia v Bolivia game on 17 July, 1930.

He is the youngest referee to officiate at a World Cup finals tournament. He collected autographs throughout the tournament. I have identified some of the autographs, but most seem to be Spanish, so if anyone can help identify these let me know. I have a feeling that the majority of the signatories are delegates of the various countries which took part.

regards, Mark

12 page issue for a pre-season friendly 22 years ago.

City striker Wayne Allison had been co-ordinating the Long Ashton players' fitness regime. Presumably this match was part of the deal between the two clubs.

Looks like Long Ashton is a suburb of Bristol (?)

Correct Derby.
Long Ashton is about a mile from Ashton Gate.

So sorry mate. I cocked up there. I hit "edit" instead of "quote" and deleated the image by mistake. Can you add it back in please?

Apologies, Jamie.

One of the largest Blackpool joint programmes (for the number of matches) was this 40 pager covering five 1999 pre-season friendlies.

The one on the 17th was against St Mirren and this was the first time the ‘Buddies’ had played at Bloomfield Road.

Blackpool lost the game 0-1.

I have also included the teamsheet.

A very short trip south down the M5 for Rovers on this day back in 2002.
A 32 page, A5 programme costing £1.30 was issued for the game played at Clevedon's Hand Stadium.

Match played earlier this evening.

Good old-fashioned giant-killing as the Luxembourg club beat their Dutch opponents 2-1.

They'll be dancing in the streets of Déifferdeng tonight Easy

24 years ago and a visit by Graham Turner's Wolves to the island of Anglesey for a match against their representative XI.

4 page issue free with admission.

Line-ups on the inside pages and a welcome from the Mayor on the back page. Wolves are listed as playing 4-3-3 but the home side are using a rather novel 3-2-3-2 approach to the game.

I wonder how they coped with Steve Bull on the day?

38 years ago today 20th July 1975

An offering from Tunisia..

L'Etoile Sportive v Sheffield United

A match that Ken Furphy would later blame for his demise and the clubs fortunes. United had been invited to play the opening match at a new stadium in Sousse, Tunisia. Furphy was against it, claiming that the players weren't properly conditioned. But the Club, accepted because it was worth £10,000 to them. In the event, United lost 4-1, Tony Field scoring our goal, in front of 10,000. Furphy blamed this fixture for the fact that a number of players were carrying injuries for the start of the season.
The rest is history, from european contenders to relegation certainties in a matter of months..

Surely a bigger reason for the demise was that recent signing James Brown simply didn't perform at left back?
