Hey everyone, I'm no new to the forum, came across it from google. Ok so I have been given over 100,000 football programmes dating back to the 50s,60s, 70s.. Neutral

Another patronising post....

If only people got this excited about your introduction to the forum!

Why does every single post you make seem patronising, arrogant or bitter Bazza?

Seems to me that you've lost your boing boing mate.

Wrexham v Leeds 12/08/1964 was on a well known dealers list for £100.

Not quite it would make that amount, but will certainly go for £50+

I've got that one, a charity match.

I'm not a collector, I have no idea about programmes or their value so no point in me putting up prices.

Don't drive yourself crazy
list them on ebay.
Not as a job lot as you'll get naff all and the golden ticket could be amongst them.
List them one at a time starting at 99p
It will cost you nothing and you'll find out what you have.

What you have on this forum is a complete mixture of chancers, opportunists, nice guys, dealers and collectors.
All of them have their own interests at heart.
Nobody is going to take the time to tell you that you have one programme that is worth between £10 and £20 and offer you £30.
All would like to know what you would like to see if,armed with no knowledge, you will make a mistake.
It's ebay for you and not this or any similar forum

I think you're in danger of tarring everybody with the same brush there treble99. You've only got to read Holtie's posting of the other day about "there is nice folk on this forum" to appreciate that there are people on here who regularly give out information, free of charge - which you would never get in other areas. I once contacted a rugby union dealer about some items I was trying to ascertain the approximate value of, and he wanted cash up front before he'd even give some of his "knowledge"

That doesn't happen on here. You may get the odd person on here who may give disingenuous info in the hope of getting something on the cheap, but on the whole I think we're not too bad.

Ebay might be an option - you obviously think so because you've advised him twice to do it now - but it's not the only option. Auctions as well could see him get a decent return, but like ebay there's usually 15% to 20% commission to pay. If the guy gets approximate values from folk on here he could then hopefully make an informed opinion having done research elsewhere as well - dealer's catalogues are numerous online nowadays.

I don't want to give the view that everybody on here is bad as that is not the case.
However the percentage of people that will help the initial poster is,in my opinion, not very high.
That is not to say that there aren't a lot of people on here who can help him.
There are a lot that just can't be arsed or a lot that can't see something in it for themselves so equally can't be arsed.

There are two sides to every story to be fair.
I see a lot of people who have sen too many "Antique road shows" or "Cash in the Attic" who want you to look at the item(s),give them your experience of valuation and then give them top dollar.
They need to watch Pawn Stars where the expert comes in and values it at $5000 and the seller then gets offered $1500 and they get their balls squeezed up to $1650.

I was pushing ebay on this one as it will give the seller the opportunity to see what that gem is(if indeed there is one) if he posts 25 a week on ebay.
He will never get that "i wonder if" feeling because all is on open offer.
If he goes the auction route it becomes a general big box of programmes and if there is only say one gem in the box it wouldn't be difficult to hide it inside another programme and make it difficult to find if you know what i mean
I know there are no members on this forum who would do such a thing but it has been known hasn't it
