I acquired this interesting little fixture list for The General Post Office FC 1906-07 recently. I had no idea that they had a team. Their home ground was at Earlsfield, London . Some of the venues they played at sound interesting : Wormsholt Farm, Tooting Common, Cricklewood, Garret Lane. I suppose football teams and pitches were springing up everywhere during its infancy.

What a great little item. Thanks for sharing.

Those years were quite full with numerous different competitions, especially for various institutions. While I am trying to finish my work on reconstructing the South Eastern League (1901/02 to 1914/15), I have been using "The Sportsman" that is available through BNA. It is quite comprehensive with football and has numerous London-based leagues included.

I am guessing they would have played in the London Postal League and Cup.

When I finally complete the SEL, to the best I can, I have been considering the London Banks League, which was quite a sizeable league with many divisions representing so many banks.

Ndg , let me know if you need clearer copies of this fixture list for your project. It sounds like you have set yourself a real task, but it’s good fun if you enjoy the research involved. I have never been that interested in the family tree thing that lots of people have a go at. My wife was researching hers a few years back and found out that one of her relatives played for ( pre F WW) Liverpool, Newcastle and ended up at Hartlepool. It now looks like one of my grandkids , who is fifteen , might be joining the Everton set up next season. Hope the Blues stay up! Perhaps some things are passed on from our ancestors?
