Went to St.Albans City last week and was surprised that they are a cashless stadium.
Luckily I had enough in my account.

This got me thinking that how many clubs have gone cashless. Football league and premiership okay, but step 5 and below.
Barnet last time I went but any others? Not saying it will put me off but sometimes I'm close to my bank limit and don't want to get ..

Dorking Wanderers (same division as St Albans) is cashless too

It was phased in last season, the first thing to go card only was the turnstiles, they left some of the food and drink places as taking cash but now it is all cashless

Not popular with a small percentage of the hardcore fans

Getting on my soapbox now, I do think that non league football should be a safe haven for -

printed programmes, not digital only

teamsheets freely available (at a small charge is fair enough)

taking cash

against digital only ticketing

These clubs are supposed to be the best examples of accessibility and inclusion, not excluding anyone, and keeping the traditions that mean a lot to fans

I wouldn't argue with you, Dorking, about cash at non-league grounds but you have to remember, a few hundred paying cash = a few thousand taken in cash - low policing, high crime rate. Do the math. Sad I know but it's the real world.

............. and Banks have charged Businesses for cash handling for a long time.

OK Banks also take a % off the card payments but removing cash is a plus overall for the business.

Yeah, I've noticed more non-league clubs going cashless too. I went to Dulwich Hamlet a couple of weeks ago, and it was the same deal. I don’t always carry much cash, so it didn’t bother me, but I’ve had times where I was right on the edge of my overdraft and didn’t even realize. Definitely worth checking before you go, especially at smaller grounds—it seems to be the way things are heading now.
