Does anyone know anything about a player called Joe Thickett.

It’s a Real Photo Postcard from Albert Wilkes & Son of West Bromwich.

It came with another WBA postcard.

Could it be a Walsall strip?

Can anyone help?

The Football League Players Record to 1939 does not have a Joe Thickett. There is a Henry Thickett, but he played at the turn of the century.

Looks like a Walsall shirt he's wearing.
They had the same style at that time according to Historical Football Kits site.

Can't find anything about him on google etc though.

Good luck

Thanks for your efforts.

It does look Walsall. Maybe he never made the first X1 ?

Baltimore, if you contact eBay seller maineboy0 ( Robert) he might be able to help. He seems to have a lot of team photos throughout the last century , including Reserves, . If you ask him if he’s got a Walsall team photo from the early 1930s with Joe Thickett in the line- up ? I’ve always found him helpful and he doesn’t charge a lot. I wander if Joe was related to the old Bristol City and Sheffield United player Henry Thickett? Don’t know if it is true, but legend has it that he played in an FA Cup Final with cracked ribs. Apparently his body was heavily bandaged , and copious slugs of whisky helped him get through the game!

I am beginning to wonder if J.Thickett might be the owner or recipient of the postcard?

So I might have to look at some team groups!

Walsall played in claret & blue at that time. The collar looks white to me (I know it's a b&w photo
Very Happy ). Possibly a red & white shirt?
