Blip on new set up?

I've had the following come up on my screen after my last two posts, which I certainly hadn't seen before. Craig / Jamie?

I just had that message too, but when I checked what the post it had actually been posted on the site.

What causes this?
If this has worked for you before, and you suddenly start seeing the above mentioned error message, chances are that one (or more) of the email adresses you're trying to send to is (no longer) a reachable email address.
(The forum tries to send post notifications to forum users who subscribed ('watch this topic') to a certain topic)
(Note, even in the case of a bad email address causing this error, the notification is still being sent to all the 'correct' email addresses)


What is the most obvious solution
Find the offending email address and either correct it or remove it.

This wasn't email addresses though, it was putting posts onto the site.

Mentioned it because there's obviously a lot of hard work gone into getting the site up and running properly again and didn't want undetected bugs in the system that might jeopardise it.

You misunderstand, it is the forums notification process that is failing, nothing to do with the content of the post

Thanks for the heads up John.

Grantham, thanks for pointing me in the right direction too.

Im guessing since you had the error when responding in this thread, Johns registered email address must no longer be valid and anyone else who has had the message pop up is probably because a user with an invalid email address has notifications of new messages turned on.

Not sure why such a message should show to a front end user, as it seems something for a moderator and administrator rather than a general user, but thats just the way the software is written.

Anyway, ive surpassed the error and it should all work now without the error.

No problem, had the pleasure of using PHPBB for many years and know how delicate it can be at times
