Post subject: Leeds United Programme Guide - UPDATED
Reply with quote

As most forum members will be aware I created and have worked on The Leeds United Programme Guide for several years now.

Recently I decided to revamp how the site works behind the scenes and allow the user to have more flexibility in search options, as opposed just to search by season.

I have now made all content dynamic and sourced via a database instead of a static html page. Meaning the programmes you see are all derived from a database search....

Anyways, away from the technical jargon - The site now allows the user to search by season, but only seasons that have one or more programme associated with it.
You can now search via an opponent, so for example if you only wanted to search for Leeds programmes against Sheffield United you can now do so. Again, only teams who are in the database will appear in the search options.

I have added four potential popular searches, they are as follows
- Leeds European issues
- Leeds West Riding Senior Cup issues
- Leeds postponed issues
- Leeds issues on this current day in history.

A reserve section has been added and includes seasons from 1946/47 to 1989/90, remaining seasons will be added in the future.

Click on the Programme menu option to view the search options

The next phases will include the FA Youth Cup section and pre-war seasons.

If you any suggestions for others search options please let me know and I will look into them.

I have added several new sites to the links page but need to work on the format of the that page, if you have a site that is similar to the current links that is not included please let me know and I can add it.
I will also include a more generic set of links as well - e.g. dealers - at a later date.

Lastly but certainly not least - I need to say a massive thank you to Phil Winder aka Stanwick1 on the forum for sending me several 1000 images from his own collection, without these images and his vast knowledge of the hobby the site would be a very different site.

Enjoy the site and I look forward to any feedback

Thats really useful, I know there was an Everton postponed game in 46/7 but I have never seen the programme. Do you know was your copy from a bound volume?

I am not sure I have seen one for sale anywhere

Hi mate, looking at the image it looks to have its own staple, so my guess, and it is only a guess would be it was a stand alone copy and not from a bound volume. I am sure Stanwick1 can advise Smile

I also forgot to mention above, click on any image and it can be enlarged.

Great site, well done Thumbs Up

In the European section does 'No Photo Available' mean no programme was issued?

Currently if I am not sure I have put 'No photo available' but in reality most of the no photo Euro aways are non-issues.
There are a handful of newspaper issues for some of those games, but I am reluctant to use a newspaper as an official issue.

I will tidy it up and update it.

On your postponed section fella. Everton away. Lie Tie front cover stood outside China Town Dragon Arch. Season 2003. You don't have that one listed mate. Excellent site and how much did you pay for Leeds postponed at Goodison from 68/69 season ?
Regards.

Think that’s probably because that game wasn’t postponed.
I thought I did hear there were 2 versions (one in Chinese?) but I may have got confused there - if anyone knows differently please let me know

The Leeds game that was postponed in the 2000s was 30th December 2000 wasn't it?

It was a reserve issue against Wolves 11/9/71, we may have one in stock if you are interested?

Just a quick update on some recent work undertaken on the site.

Reserves now include all seasons from 1945/46 to current season.

I have added an option to see one home issue from each season.

FA Youth Cup, Northern Intermediate Cup and Yorkshire league issues have now been added (not comprehensive, any information missing is very much welcomed).
Northern Intermediate League issues will be added in the future.

But, the icing on the cake has to be 9 pre war seasons back to 1931/32 including home and away issues - a few scans missing - once again any help is appreciated.
We will add previous seasons back to the first programme featuring Leeds as Leeds United!!!

As ever, a huge thank you to Stanwick1 for his help on this project.

The formatting of the search option needs some work but that will come - Enjoy the recent additions and as always any feedback is welcomed.
