Happy New Year to all the forum members.

I hope 2010 is a good one, but there's a cloud hanging over fratton park at present

Whats happening at Portsmouth is a joke. No money, players not being paid, transfer embargo.

The only 2 arabs with no money.....

The premier league fit & proper test..........mmmmmm

Still look on the bright side, my programmes might increase in value in years to come.

Personally I hope Pompey are treated in exactly the same way as the smaller clubs who go into administration were treated, the likes of Bournemouth,Rotherham,Chester,Luton and Boston were easy targets for the authorities, lets see them get tough with one of the big boys. Pompey lived well beyond their means and I for one lay most of the blame for their current problems at the door of Redknapp who spent big when everyone could see the car crash on the horizon. Good manager my arse, he's a darling of the media who are blind to him spending whats not there and then clearing off when a better offer comes along.

I read somewhere that Stockport risk ending up in the Unibond League Div 1 next season if things aren't sorted out, a drop of 4 divisions. If a similar punishment is handed down to Pompey perhaps then this crazy spending by mid size Premiership/Championship sides might be reined in a little bit.......but I doubt it.

Don't take that personally, I think Pompey have great support and are a proper traditional club, I just think the calamity around the corner was so avoidable.

I agree 100%, Rednapp got the players in on silly wages, then disappeared.
Nobody could run a business like the majority of premiership clubs and survive, even the big clubs would struggle if the banks called in their loans.
Perhaps that why Barclays sponser the league. At least thats one bank the tax payer hasn't bailed out.

Happy New Year to every one on here, that's regardless of which team you support.

I for one hope Pompey survive, but totally agree with Andy's comments, being a Leeds supporter we have faced the consequences of spending way-way beyond our means but due to the 'size' of the club have not had the same severe punishment as Luton, Chester & Boston.
Regardless of what is said, we are lucky to be in existence let along the football league. I also hope Stockport keep their league status.

I will finish with a pondering question.... When will football be treated as a sport and not as a business (sadly I think I know the answer)??

Also, decisions regarding which league a team plays in should be determined on the pitch and not the boardroom. Stockport should only be relegated on division and that's if they finish in the bottom 4.

Once again, Happy New Year for 2010
