I have just watched a fascinating documentary on Bill Shankly, called Shankly, Natures Fire. It should still be on catch-up. Very moving, I must admit I had a tear in my eye at the end. Yet again showed how different things are today. Probably there will never be such a relationship between manager and supporters, there will never be a top class manager who will keep his job after 7 trophyless seasons (apart from Wenger)
Great footage of interviews with Liverpool fans at the time. A time when LFC supporters came from the surrounding terraced streets rather than Kuala Lumpur or Copenhagen. Also a terrifyingly violent tackle by Johnny Giles in the 1965 cup final.
Well worth watching.

I watched it last weekend farmersboy and agree with you.
It's a brilliant watch from a time that has long gone and all football fans will love it, not only Liverpool.
If I had a small complaint, it would be that they didn't use more actual footage of the great man himself.

A good programme; well worth watching.

A pity that he decided to retire from the Club when he did. I am sure he could have achieved a lot more if he had stayed. Nonetheless, he paved the way for many future successful Managers.

Excellent documentary, brought back loads of very happy memories. I was amazed at all the footage I'd previously never seen before. (1971 FAC semi, 1974 FAC Final, 1974 Charity Shield)

Incidentally it was Bobby Collins not Johnny Giles who attempted to take Gerry Byrne out in the 1965 Cup Final.
