Lookslike the arse could possibly dropout of star badges as they're now being replicated -

I had heard this was on the cards. I do like some of the modern remakes of 70s sticker 'insert' badges though, and I would have thought the interest in star badge remakes would be quite niche and limited, but we'll see

I'm certain the originals will still command the same decent money, other re-issues of memorabilia haven't prevented that happening.

Given their charming, yet crude appearance, it won't be difficult to spot an original from a replica.

Experienced collectors will always know the real thing.

The thing is, its very easy to age the plastic to resemble the originals ,same with the pic inserts and the reverse pin.so yes they could easilty con the "experienced collector" if in the wrong hands. Different from the insert badges as the reverse pin gives the game away

You seem to know an awful lot about the ageing processes of the plastics and the photos and the pins
How do you age the plastics?

oh well seeing as they are not going to be worth much in the future i will liquidate the 345 manchester united star badges i have for a couple of quid each..........
plus £60 each post/packing for the run of the mill ones and for the better ones just double the p/p rates:lol:

It's not hard to fake anything if you're savvy enough and know what you're doing.
Take the important historical documents that have been forged and "passed the scientific paper ageing tests" for example ...

The forger simply goes to a public library, obtains an original book from the same period, and uses a concealed Stanley blade to pilfer the blank sheets of paper always found at the beginning and ending of a book - and hey presto, there's your kosher period paper that'll pass any authenticity test.

Next you mix up your likewise authentic period ink, using a bottle of Quink, some earth from the garden, and several other easily obtained ingredients.
Which again has fooled many experts.

Then you cunningly age the document with such methods as cold tea and a sunlamp, amongst other things.

Lastly you need to create a convincing back story of provenance, namely how you came to discover and obtain such a wonderful document.

Those are the lengths folk will go to when there are tens and tens of thousands of pounds to be made.
One cunning chap completely rewrote American history and the beginning of the Mormon church before getting rumbled.

I don't see all that happening with Star Badges though.
