I grew up thinking Forbes Phillipson-Masters was a daft name for football but as time's gone on and with shifting population and the decline of marital status so names are becoming more and more mixed-up and exotic.
Trawling as I do all the match reports on the BBC site after a full night's play, I saw this name and thought I was seeing things........
PELLY RUDDOCK MPANZU (Luton Town)
And there's a chap called ELIAS KACHUNGA who surely must have been a cashier before taking up football with Huddersfield.
I wish these fine blokes every success in their careers and am sorry to highlight their somewhat crazy names on this forum. Maybe it's my fault - I'll never grow up.

On a more light hearted note how about the Watford player
Isaac Success
Journalists probably have their headlines written already. |

A few years ago when we were in Conference South, a visiting team (Bishop's Stortford I think?) brought on a sub called Jason Mason.
When Tim our PA guy announced it, you could hear everybody around the ground laughing.
Poor Jason.
PS. I remember Forbes Phillipson-Masters Pete.
Pretty sure I saw him playing for both Plymouth & Bristol City against us.
Always thought he sounded like a public schoolboy who should have been head boy at Eton or somewhere. |

Can't believe we've made it this far and no-one's mentioned legendary Reading midfielder Wayne Wanklyn... _________________ Always looking for pre-1980 Cowes homes, pre-1987 Cowes aways, and any other bits and bobs relating to Cowes F.C. and I.W. football in general. Someone has to. |

Didn't Flanagan and Allen play together for Charlton, think they also had one called Anil Koc.
Or Bernt Haas of West Brom. |

Think you're right.
While we're at it, folk duo Foster and Allen played for West Ham too (as the most excellent fanzine Fortune's Always Hiding commemorated on one of their covers). _________________ Always looking for pre-1980 Cowes homes, pre-1987 Cowes aways, and any other bits and bobs relating to Cowes F.C. and I.W. football in general. I've resisted as long as I could, but my inner child has cracked....
David Goodwillie
Paul Dickov
Danny Shittu
Angel Rangel always amuses me too.
Also Martin Jol once got upset at reporters during his time at Spurs for laughing when he mentioned his brothers who were known as...Dick and Cock...

Flanagan & Allen played together at Palace for about half a season. It was Flanagan & Hales at Charlton who were playing together for ages and then they had their punch-up on the pitch when losing to non-leaguers in the cup (Maidstone?)
Peters & Lee played for England as well as singing (badly!)
Withe and Shaw played for Villa and then became a suburb of Manchester. |

Not forgetting Mike Trebilcock of course Five.
Him and David Goodwillie always raise a childish smirk out of me.
Not sure if it counts, but a few years back we had a strike partnership of Craig Reid & Ben Wright.
Read & write - geddit?!
Which reminds me of the time Forest had David Currie & Brian Rice up front.
