Giant Annual Yorkshire Collectors Fair this Saturday (30th of May), Pudsey Civic Hall, Dawsons Corner, Leeds LS28 5TA 11am - 2pm.

Please see below for the list of attending dealers & a short description of what you can expect to come across at their stall:

Michael Hewitt Programmes (organiser): Michael & Alex Hewitt are Leeds United specialists and will have items from 1920s to current season available. Also, you'll find sections on all Yorkshire clubs, most Lancshire & North East and a wide selection of memorabilia for most sports. If anyone has any requests (ie: clubs from other regions etc) let you know and we'll do our best to help. Michael: 07860192787 / [email protected] & Alex: 07703138041 / [email protected].

Sportingold Ltd: Top UK sporting memorabilia auction house who will alson be selling rare items on the day.

Kick Off Programmes: Leeds United specialist.

Soccer History: A quarterly magazine which aims to promote original research into the history of the worlds greatest game.

Steve Harding: Rare and collectable items of all clubs from pre-war onwards.

Stewart Roberts: Bradford City & Subbuteo specialist.

Colin Grunwell: A wide selection with heavy non league bias.

Andrew Neal: Up and coming Blackburn Rovers specialist with a nice selection of programmes from other clubs.

Westward Programmes: Excellent stock selection covering a wide range. Gordon is by far the most prolific Fair attender in the UK who I'm sure everyone has seen up and down the country.

Tony Shelton: A nice mix of programmes and memorabilia.

Dave Stordy: Bradford Park Avenue club shop.

Ian Allsop: New dealer with fresh stock that, I'm sure, will be well worth a look.

David Connor: Signed pictures and programmes.

Rob Frowen: Blackpool bias but an excellent array of other clubs, with Bunley been well represented, on show. A treat for pre 1960s collectors.

Mel Hart: Nottingham based dealer covering all the aspects of the hobby.

Glyn Jones: A great choice of Everton, Rugby League & other general programmes.

FREE PARKING, BAR FACILITIES & GROUND LEVEL ENTRANCE. FANTASTIC VENUE & GREAT DAY OUT.

ENTRY: £1 adults / kids FREE with a free 2014/15 programme.

I will be attending as usual, on the following conditions.

1. I can find a spare Fiver
2. I have permission from the wife to spend the fiver.
3. If I want some modern tat, I allowed to.
4. I am allowed to haggle over any 50p items I want.
5. Infoman gets me in a picture
6. I meet Dangerman, get him to sign an Ayr United programme and then ask Chris Williams if its worth owt.
7. Posh1959 finally buys me a pint.
8. And finally, this year I don't get clocked for speeding on the dual carriageway at Pudsey, which cost me £100.

Anyone that's thinking of fetching Pompey programmed for my benefit please be aware that the gaps in my collection date from the 1958/59 season, I don't need many from before then so it's only modern tat that I'm after. Seriously though the
1958/59
1959/60
1960/61
Are the seasons where I'm really short but I've only got a hundred to spend and when its gone that's it. !
Enjoyed the flicker site Sharrow ,every bit as good as Pete Jenkins excellent Pompey flicker site, well done to all these people who have gone to great lengths to share their clubs programmes with other forum members

you forgot that the nicker to get in will have a few non collecting collectors in a proper turmoil

If anybody is meaning to go but has the usual excuses for not supporting this annual pilgrimage then make your excuses now
They can range from
1 I forgot even though i had a good lump to spend
2 The wife insisted at the last minute that i chucked the obligatory fiver away on her
3 The dog got the squitters
4 The cat got the squitters
5 I couldn't get back to the telly to watch the cup final in time
6 Your own feeble excuse

Send your congrats now and look forward to next year now

Mick has done a brilliant job for years and should be supported
I will be making the drive across the Pennines myself so if anybody wants to get confrontational then now is your chance

You're right Treble, the entrance fee will leave me short.

Its that, or mow the lawn in the pouring rain.

Just hope somebody brings a pile of Sheffield United Teamsheets, (you know modern tat and all that).

i've got some 1920's Sheffield United programmes somewhere that i've had for about 10 years

The last bids were about £15 each but i would have to wait 2 or 3 months whilst the saving up could be done to buy 5 or 6
Genuinly!!

So if a 1920's is worth,possibly £15 what a 1980's worth?

Very Happy Very Happy

Consequently I guess some people may need the correct postcode which is LS28 5TA (Googled)

I note that Programme Monthly also listed it incorrectly.

A busy fair, more waiting outside for it to open than i have seen in recent years, met Sharrow and his buddie, and Treble, decent quality programmes available. Good to see Chris Williams making the effort to travel from down south, and Gordon from Plymouth. Sadly not much available for me, but bought a couple of nice items.

It would be good if this could be made into a bi annual event, perhaps one over the Christmas period.

I think I mentioned to you Clive that I hadn't seen a queue like that outside a fair waiting for some years - very encouraging. How did other buyers and sellers find it?

Personally I thought that it was well attended and pretty steady throughout until the last 45 minutes, which is good considering A, the Test Match was on down the road and B, it was a 3 1/2 hour fair. Was good seeing some familiar faces and also received some positive comments about how the programmes were presented - even if I didn't take enough for the size of stall I had. I'd also echo the sentiments of Clive regarding making the fair a bi-annual event as there certainly seemed the footfall and £££ spend to justify this.

Overall a very good fair and will be one I'm looking forward to next year!

Thumbs Up

As mentioned, it was encouraging to see plenty of stall-holders today and a decent attendance passing through the doors. Credit to the organisers. I managed to pick up a few bits ’n bobs but as the ‘wants list’ shrinks year by year, inevitably there’s less to bring home. Still spent my pocket money though.

As for a bi-annual event, if this spacious venue is available and the cost acceptable, then could it replace the Sheffield fair over the festive period? Wasn't there was some chew with the venues for the festive Sheffield and Manchester fairs in 2014 and they were consequently postponed?

i did enjoy myself at the fair yesterday

a partial feel of "the old time fair"
It always is

I shook a few hands and we had a laugh at a few of the sensitive souls on here

I nearly choked when i went in the cafe for a tea

Several women sat around with faces like slapped arses
Clutching their purses and waiting for their loved ones

One came back and had to explain why he's been 45 minutes when he said he's be quick
He explained he had been thinking about a specific programme and she explained he'd had his tenner(i must be out of date) and he wasn't chucking any more money away
I nearly choked on my tea

Very Happy Very Happy
