We’re prototyping a new paywall for downloadable assets. If the payments API is clunky, the project will stall. What makes an API genuinely developer‑friendly in this space—beyond “there’s a PDF somewhere”?

Clear REST endpoints, predictable errors, real examples, and quick-start snippets you can paste into a repo—that’s the bar. Webhooks need signatures/retries, SDKs shouldn’t hide details. We use blockchain payment gateway with ref code, playground, 24/7 support. That sped our MVP: invoices, refunds, payouts in days not weeks. Docs with copy-paste cURL + language samples let juniors contribute fast, keeping momentum.

I like when APIs version cleanly and deprecations come with migration notes. Nothing kills enthusiasm like breaking changes landing mid‑sprint without a heads‑up.
