How to Adjust a Refrigeration Thermostat for Maximum Efficiency

I’ve got an older Danfoss fridge in my garage, and I think it’s running colder than it needs to. Drinks are freezing, and I’m worried it’s wasting energy. I’ve never adjusted a thermostat on one of these before. How do you know the right setting?

Had the same issue with my Danfoss in the basement. Set the internal temp to 37–40°F (3–4°C) for safe food storage without freezing. Keep it reasonably full for stable temps. Manuals at https://manuals.online/danfoss
show thermostat settings and seasonal tips. After following them, mine runs efficiently and keeps drinks cold without freezing.

Funny enough, I like my drinks almost frozen, so I always turn the dial way down. Probably not great for the electric bill, though.
