About Me

What do you do for a living?

Retired

Which club do you support and why?

Everton - it's a family thing..

What do you collect?

Everton homes and related to Everton (Goodison), some aways mostly winning seasons, cup runs, 1960s..

How did you get into programme collecting?

It's a great way to keep a record of your support, since I first went

Your Collection

What was your first football programme?

I think from the first game I remember going to - a 1-0 home loss to Leeds 70-71, although I know I went earlier.

What was the last programme you bought?

Burnley-Spurs LC Semi and Man City-Hamburg UEFA (good quality) £1 each - and one other - in an antique shop last week

How big is your collection?

2,267 Everton and counting... a few other clubs but I gave most of them away to a young lad at Southampton FC fair to get him going. All home first class games since 1957 although 2-3 of these are copies.

How do you store your collection?

Mostly in Folders, the rarer items in a plastic cover holder. The aways not so dedicated, just in a pile

Whats the oldest programme you own?

1937 Everton v Leicester City

What is the rarest item in your collection?

A few of the older ones, nothing remarkably rare - perhaps my original History of EVERTON 1878-1928 Book from 1928 is the most valuable item, it's been in the family since it was first issued.

Which programme from your club is the rarest and most expensive to obtain?

Gornik friendly 1991, perhaps the odd postponed item, European aways from 60s (especially Valerengens), Man Utd home from Munich season. I did have a Wolves home from 1948-9 but swapped it with someone who needed it to complete their post-war Everton collection so I suppose that was rare

What is...?

What is your worst buy?

I'm selective. Can't think I've wasted too much buying bad stuff

What is your best buy?

Got lucky with a few oddments but I guess just about getting those fillers is satisfying

What is the most you have paid for a programme and which one?

Over £100

What is the most you have received for a programme and which one?

Not much, around £100

What is your most prized programme?

Can't say I've ever really thought about this

Whats your biggest regret in collecting?

Not getting Everton v Man Utd 57-8 for £20 because the seller forget to show it me - seeing someone else nap it.

The Hobby

In you opinion, is the programme collectors communtiy shrinking or growing?

Shrinking I'd say.

What do you enjoy most about the hobby?

The community is good

Where do you buy most of your programmes from?

eBay - but sometimes at boot fairs and programme fairs and antique type shops.

The Future

If money was no object, which programme would you most like to add to your collection?

All those gaps

Would you ever sell your collection?

I suppose, if my lad didn't want it after I go!

How do you wish to develop your collection over the coming years?

Fill in those gaps gradually.
